Friendly reminder that an upside-down cross is traditionally a very Christian symbol.

I know that, and I will quote you what I've told a few others already:

"Yup, and my pony has nothing to do with being Anti-Christian, or even Christian for that matter. I do however know the story behind the upside down cross, and the symbolism behind it The cutie mark being the upside down cross works well for my pony here. Since there's no "Christ" figure in the My Little Pony universe, his humility and unworthiness that he feels is directed towards those he deems to be the most respected and precious to himself. Also I am assuming that the remark on the cutie mark is in reference to his name. Twisted Faith's name has very little to do with his cutie mark. It derives instead in his ability to poorly place his trust in others, or rather, in who he puts his faith in. Since the word "faith" has the connotation of "religion" I felt that was a nice connection between the name and cutie mark.

While I have to say I actually love the idea of a race called a "dragula" (the horns and tail are pretty cool, and I really love his color scheme),Β  but, as others have mentioned, the Cross of St. Peter actually has no affiliation with Satanism, or any paganism.Β  You could try switching out the cross for either an upside-down pentagram (two points facing up) or the sigil of Baphomet. :3

Well thank you for the kind comments on my pony's design Though my pony has absolutely nothing to do with Satanism or paganism. The only people who've describe him as a "dark" pony are the people who run the World's Worst Pony OCs blog on Tumblr. This is what I said to someone else about his cutie mark:

Yup, and my pony has nothing to do with being Anti-Christian, or even Christian for that matter. I do however know the story behind the upside down cross, and the symbolism behind it The cutie mark being the upside down cross works well for my pony here. Dragula is not a race and the cutie mark marks very little sense.

No idea why you paid for this...

Why can't there be a race of ponies refered to as Dragulas?

I paid for it because I like the design.

After reading above, I do take back the cutie mark comment, but...well, when making OCs, it's generally a good idea to try to keep it within canon limits.

Still, you're free to do whatever, I suppose.

ehresko In reply to Tails-The-Fox7567 [2013-10-09 23:31:50 +0000 UTC]

You are definitely free to your own opinion, and I do see your point Though I do have plenty of other pony characters that do fit within the canonical guidelines of pony OC creation (majority of which can be found here: link ), which admittedly is what drew me to his design in the first place. It was so different from the standard that I wanted him an an OC. He's my deviant

But I do thank you for your input, and I hope my pony, nor either of my comments, has ruined your day for you. Take care

Uhh... the upside down cross is the symbol of the power of christ and how people are unworthy before him...

Therefore this cutie mark makes no sense

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ehresko In reply to MyLittlePeasant [2013-10-09 22:39:23 +0000 UTC]

Yup, I know what the symbol of a an upside down cross means. It's also a general reference to humility, which represents this pony quite well.

...how?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ehresko In reply to MyLittlePeasant [2013-10-09 22:52:11 +0000 UTC]

How does it suit this pony? Because he doesn't think himself of anything special. Enjoys what he does and keeps to himself. He's modest when people compliment him, and tends to deny anything good said about him.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MyLittlePeasant In reply to ehresko [2013-10-09 22:54:21 +0000 UTC]

But those are traits, not his special talent
And his name is 'Twisted Faith', which implys he's supposed to be non religiousΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ehresko In reply to MyLittlePeasant [2013-10-09 22:59:50 +0000 UTC]

I'll re-quote what I mentioned to another commenter:

As well, TF isn't a regular pony. He's a made up Dragula breed of pony, so his rules for cutie mark don't necessarily follow the cannon view of how cutie marks are supposed to be. Much like Zecora from the MLP: FiM show. Neither her name or cutie mark tell what her talents are, and yet we know she is a very talented zebra with skills in potion making. Why isn't her cutie mark a cauldron?

That's how I see it at least

I would recommend ignoring people if they're being rude. There's no point in both you, and the person making rude comments, getting any more frustrated.

And I think any fandom has their good and bad side. Don't let it get to you

You know that an upside down cross isn't anti-christianity right? The only reason that there's an upside down cross is because St. Peter felt like he wasn't worthy enough to be crucified like Jesus did, so they put the crucified him upside down. So basically the symbol on your pony's rump is showing humility and and unworthiness before Christ.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but it's best to research things before mindlessly putting them on things.Β

On another note, I love the spikes going down his tail, but I feel his face is too short and small to fit his large body, and that the horns should be up more on his head instead of so close to his eyes >_<Β

I will confess I am a little upset you would assume that it was just mindless put there, but I can understand your feels as people do tend to slap symbols on a lot of things for various reasons despite not knowing the meaning.

And I do thank you for the critique on my pony's anatomy. It is something I'm working on, and for the next drawing I do of him, I will take into consideration your suggestions.

Thank you.

I meant no harm in mentioning the cross <3 I was just making sure you knew c: like you said, people do mindlessly use things and never bother to do research on them.Β

And no problem with the critique~ It's always good to add a little bit of advice! I know i love it.

And I respect you for that. Education is a good thing so long as good intentions are behind it, and yours were, thank you.

I think it was just that Tumblr blog that gave my pony here a bad reputation. There's nothing really "dark" about him, apart from the fact that his original creator, whom I bought him from, based TF off of a Rob Zombie song, specificall the song "Dragula". I feel the folks who operate that blog, the assumption they put on my pony, is what caused everyone to question everything about him.

I do appreciate critique, I just really wish it wasn't such a hateful blog that inspired people to give the feedback on my pony.

not sure how you got "equius" from "twistedFaith"... I'm guessing it's in reference to homestuck huh? maybe try making his actual name more like his nickname. All that aside it's a cool idea and I like the cutiemark, it goes well with his name.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ehresko In reply to Dokisaurus [2013-10-09 22:48:40 +0000 UTC]

Well originally his name was Equius before I changed it to Twisted Faith. But since I did like them both I simply labeled Equius as a nickname for now, while I decide on whether or not I want to keep it at all.

As you guessed, I did get the name from Homestuck. I don't know anything about the Homestuck universe, but I had heard the name, liked how it sounded, and went with it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dokisaurus In reply to ehresko [2013-10-09 22:52:41 +0000 UTC]

haha okay makes sense. funny that Equius comes from the word equine which means horse, hint hint my little PONY. I despise homstuck but I think It's a nice nickname regardless. Your art skills aren't half bad ether, keep up the good work.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ehresko In reply to Dokisaurus [2013-10-09 23:05:39 +0000 UTC]

Haha that is another good connection then.

And yes, I'm not much of a fan of the Homestuck universe. The Troll characters look cool, but that's the extent of my interest in it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dokisaurus In reply to ehresko [2013-10-10 11:14:01 +0000 UTC]

Then we're both mutual in opinions I guess. Homestuck really isn't my cup of tea, the characters are cool but the plot is hardly interesting.Β

Hm, Twisted Faith's mane even sort of looks like equius's hair.
