Description
In the week following Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, Jesus did and taught many things. Here is one of the parables.
28“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ 29“And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30“The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. 31“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. 32“For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.
Matthew 21:28-32

I think the message is about obeying God and repentance. The son who said, "I will not," is basically telling God (the Father) I won't do your work...and then repents (change your mind) and does the work that the father requests. The son who says he does the work of God and chooses not to do God's work represents the religious hypocrites of Jesus's day and of today. They say they do the works of God, but theirearts are far from it.
I really enjoy your drawings, Eikonik. God has truly blessed you with some awesome talents.
I like the Parable of the Talents, the Parable of the Prodigal (Lost) Son, and the Lost Sheep, and of the Sower. Being an agricultural society, the people of Palestine could relate to these stories.

hehehe more commenting....In fact, I believe I feel the need to review as much as possible...prepare for a flooded inbox.
Anyway..
thoughts on the piece itself...
the son in the back is a bit blurry, making him a bit bigger or more defined may be better. I like the simple background and how the son doing the work looks like he's happy to be doing his father's will. It really does fit the parable, great job!

Thanks...
Yeh, I went through several placements of the son in the back, but at that time just wasn't sure. I really liked the obedient son and was trying to "fit" the other behind him. I think I might redo this one sometime soon. (This was from a few years ago...)

Thanks... it's not one of the more "well-known" parables. But it was fun.

Oh yeh, you might be thinking of the Prodigal Son story... this one is the "other" 2 Sons... not as well known.
Prodigal is in Luke 15... this one's from Matthew 21
