Love this! Trying to write a book that takes place during the time of Jesus but I needed some inspirations on the clothing. Excellent job and super happy that you are getting the Word out to people on your page.

My only issue with this is that Jesus' mother and Joseph were worried and frustrated when they found Him. Sure, they must have been filled with relief and joy but as vs. 48 says, they asked Jesus why He treated them like that. vs 49 is an answer like a bell tolling God's Truth.

Yeh, I can see why you might say that since I have verses 41-49 listed above, but this image was really meant for verses 51 and 52, when they were back in Nazareth and he was obedient to them, growing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Thanks for your input!!

Most Judeo-Christian beliefs that at age 12, your child reaches what we call the "Age of Accountability." Young Hebrew males, like 12 year old Jesus, would have a Bar Mitzvah (girls would have a Ber Mitzvah). Abraham established this rite with his son, Isaac, and later to Jacob, and to Joseph and Benjamin, and the other 10 brothers. So, Simon Peter would be Simon Bar Jonas (Simon, son of Jonas).
"Don't you know, I must be about My Father's business?" Looks like Jesus is ready to start his journey to his destiny...he later returns back to Nazareth with Mary and Joseph. We don't hear from Jesus again until He appears at the River Jordan to ask his cousin, John the Baptist, to baptize him by immersion. It is a wonderful experience to be baptized by Immersion. Ask your pastor or clergy member about how to get baptized and start your walk with God.

But just because Jesus start at 12 doesn't mean anything.

To the Jews in Nazareth where He grew up it meant a lot. He was considered a man by age 12; He was entitled to a great many privileges and was considered responsible for His community's well-being.
For girls, they become women when they are 13- they'll have their bat-mitzvah then. It would be no wonder then that His mother Mary was married between ages 14-17.

It's beautiful. I'm a fan of this style of lineart and coloring, and you did a wonderful job with both. The body language and facial expressions are warm and joyful.

Good question... the text doesn't say they were angry at Him. It mentions that they were first astonished when they heard Him in the temple (verse 48). Astonished doesn't mean angry, it means amazed, wowed. They were surprisingly impressed with Him. And then secondly they told Him they were "anxiously" looking for Him. Anxious here is not anger either. It means with sorrow, because they thought that He was lost or even hurt. But when they found Him and were impressed with Him, I think a great sense of relief came over them that allowed a moment of joy - at that point after He told them that He was to be in His Father's house. That moment after His explanation, with relief and joy, is what I depicted.
Besides, He was a child. Joseph and Mary were responsible for Him at this age and the text says they left Him, thinking He was with some family or friends, but never checking on Him. I think they were the ones to have made the mistake, acting irresponsibly. Have you ever seen "Home Alone?" If a child gets left, it is the parents' fault.
If I left my child and he was missing for 3 days, I know I would frantically search for him, to exhaustion. But after 3 days, I wouldn't be angry at finding him... there would be incredible relief.
So, those were my thoughts in this image. Hope it makes sense. Thanks so much again for your question!

I love that I can't see his face.
Y-shua (Jesus) is so beautiful that any painting of Him would be blasphemous because it would never come close to the force of nature that he is.
I thank G-d for you and for your work.
