Description use LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys. If that doesn't work, you need to click on the image first.

This is what I worked on before The Exile Walkthrough . I never finished as I realized two things halfway:
1 - The file+layout was growing way too large and the way I had arranged my layers would not make for an easy conversion to Flash. I'm very happy with how it looks... but it wouldn't work with this format.
2 - It was getting so looong! I just talk and talk and talk and there isn't ONE screenshot of Photoshop's interface during the progress. So I trashed it. And during the process of The Exile and Her Champion I made sure to take screenshots along the way and make a much simpler layout for the tutorial. So this is the prototype, so to speak.

I'm uploading this here because I would very much like critique on it... I feel a bit bad for not being able to finish. Besides, someone might find it interesting?

I kind of like it, but its hard not ideal to navigate. Often in Tutorials you want to go to another site fast, so you need an overview sort of thing . But I really like the design!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not a Flash expert by any means, so it's always appreciated and I get what you mean. Gonna keep it in mind for the next

You are so unbelievably creative! I am just starting to try to make photo manips and your tutorials are fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing with us. You are a wonderful artist! I plan on reading every word and studying every tutorial you have written. I hope to be able to be a fraction of an artist as you are some day. Thank you!

You're very welcome To be honest I'm struggling pretty much daily with my creativity, but sometimes it comes out in bursts and when it does... well, you get this. I wouldn't have gotten very far without tutorials myself so I'm very happy you find mine useful.

Tips: I'm co-administering (?) #photoshop-tutorials - if you head over there you can find lots of manipulation tutorials. We try to keep a certain standard so I'm almost certain you'll find something of interest there!

Eil, are you going to post any more photo manips? Your work is simply beautiful. I hope school is going well. A response would be appreciated. Lowell

Wow, I've always admired people who make manips and can look at a stock image and pick the exact little part they want to use, like the railing. You have so much patience too! ><

20-25 hours on cutting out stock! You officially have my utmost respect.
I actually love your walkthroughs! they're amazing; funny to read, easy to understand and i am truly in awe of your attention to detail which eclipses my own.
Please finish it! i'd love to see the final parts.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Eil In reply to Behana [2009-11-13 17:17:26 +0000 UTC]

Now, sweetie... I appreciate it, but 25 hrs of cutting out stock is not impressive - it's ridiculous and hugely ineffective and if my future employers ever read this I will count myself lucky to be able to keep my job

I'll consider it. But really, it's just a bunch of adjustment layers and more boring detail work which are better explained in the other walkthrough.

Behana In reply to Eil [2009-11-13 19:29:40 +0000 UTC]

No! I love reading your tutorials. I'm working my eay steadily through mine and i find myself just doing what look like screenshots and just talking them through. You manage to pack so much more in than i am able. Perhaps it is my work style. Do you mind me sending you what i've got so far for you to look at?
And no! Anyone who spends that much time may be granted, a little mad bt just passionate about their work!
And it definitely isn't a boring walkthrough. I love them both.

Of course not, honey. Sounds to me like you're doing the right thing, though Just note me and I'll be more than happy to take a look. And thank you. As long as there is at least one person who enjoys reading what I write, I have a reason for keeping it up.

mmm... *wonders vaguely if =Behana has seen the critique I gave on Fragile Moments or marked it as unfair*...

Hehehe Yep i'll note you and we can discuss it more. And yes write more!
:faints: NO! I hasn't appeared in my inbox! I certainly wouldn't have marked it an unfair. I've just seen i now and it's never been in my inbox! How do i make if "fair" now?
