Wow, this is amazing! Not only is picture overall stunning, but I love the use of red and black in this. I'm so used to seeing Godzilla 98 stuff with a large usage of green. One of the best pieces of Godzilla Fan art I've seen!!

Dinossword Β may have already told you this but that's not Godzilla, that's Zilla, who'sΒ now owned by Toho and got his name changed in the early 2000's.

Don't be fooled by the "Zilla name change" myth. Zilla is a variation of Godzilla 1998, in the same way that Kiryu is a variation of Mechagodzilla for example. Godzilla 98's title has not changed into "Zilla". This has been made clear by both Toho and Sony and figures like Matt Frank and Keith Aiken. It is also of interest that the "Zilla" article on Wikizilla (which is a fan-site and thus NOT "100% reliable and factual" as the young man above stated) changed its contents to be more accurate and actually up-to date. Anyway, this is a great piece of artwork!

They actually didn't. They created a new monster that looks like Godzilla 98 since they still release the Movie Godzilla 98 and still call it Godzilla not Zilla

No it isn't. Toho didn't "rename" anything. Heck, even if they actually wanted to rename Godzilla 1998 they couldn't do it because their contract with Sony doesn't even allow for it. Godzilla '98 and its movie (and TV-show) remains registered under the "GODZILLA" title and character alone. The name "Zilla" actually refers to a variation of Godzilla '98, just like Kiryu is a variation of Mechagodzilla, for example. The artist seems to have made it very clear that this is a depiction of Godzilla '98, not Zilla.
