Interesting, this could have been taken ten miles away (on the edge of an outwash plain) with the exception of the red soil. Β Add that and it looks like parts of Montana. Β I need to get out more.Β

Interesting, indeed. When I arrived in Portugal I have told LΓΊcia that parts of inland Spain reminded me of the western USA. Though I thought more of the southwest.

Glacial ice, pressure, melting/moving water, and wind work the same everywhere. Β I am always amazed.Β Β latitude, altitude, and separation created the rest.Β Β I certainly can see inland Spain being much like the American SW from pictures I've seen. Β It's been a very long time since I've been in the SW, I'll need to do that in the spring. Β I've explored the NW (including Montana) for thirty years. Β

Here we also have red soil, perhaps slightly dark. When wet, it's sticky, they say that, it's very fertile and great for coffee plantations.
