Well before I painted the egg I covered it in paper mache, so some old newspaper would come in handy!

If you don't cover the egg before you paint it, it will be very hard to keep the paint on!

yeah, I cleverly did that on another project...and for a while I thought it was alright, but after the paint dried and I touched it, the paint just peeled off like a very delicate onion skin! Which was frustrating but also humerous!

It didn't take too long, but I did have to pape mache the plastic egg before I could paint it (my glue dries overnight so that was one day gone). The next day I painted it then I drew the pattern on with the darker blue pens. After that I did the black parts and left it for the rest of the day. Next day I painted the spades on the black middle part (which was hell, each one of them had to look the same!). When the paint dried I varnished it with cheap nail varnish!
About 3 days. I made all 4 of them, so as you can probably guess, I am a very patient person!

It's actually not as hard as it looks, the hardest thing for me was getting the spade shape right!
