I draw with pen and ink for my comics, so either I use different pen sizes or use a brush to vary line widths or I add details and shading, or use some form of tone work. It does help to clarify the depth perception if different sizes and/or more details in closer objects.

I, fortunately, know some of this. I think that this is a good idea to start out "super basic" so that as I continue to read your other tutorials, I can have a strong foundation. This concept of depth is something that I am lacking in. So I look forward to your other tutorials.
By the way, the examples you used were very helpful in visualizing the things that you are explaining. I really like how basic this all is, especially for someone like me who isn't interested in color, but needs to know the things like blurring things that are out of focus! I never even realized how important that this might be, because we always think "DETAIL DETAIL DETAIL"and forget that the lack thereof is also important in artwork.
However, I think maybe a few more examples may be helpful, since this is something kind of new to me. (That is my personal opinion. Of course, I could probably go look those up but I don't want to.)

thank you!
blurring is something I'm beginning to experiment more myself with and I feel I might be taking it a little too far, but I'd still like to pass on the idea ;0;
I was a little unsure of using references other than my own but I really should try and include good examples I come across!

You're welcome!
I don't think you're taking it too far. Really, it is something we all see very often but for some reason fail to think about or recognize as being a crucial factor in art. Sort of like wrinkles in clothing or stray hairs. Sure, without them we can get the idea but adding them makes your art so much more relatable and realistic. I hope I worded that right. ^J^;;
Maybe in a later tutorial when you go beyond the basics. Like I said, I think this tutorial is very well done. c:
