An animated illustration
I had painted this in photoshop, and then I thought... "Hey! I can animate this. I have ze technologeh."
I can rebuild him. Better than he was before. Better...stronger...faster...... moving xD And so I did.
The original after effects animation is a lot better resolution. I could only make the gif this large because the max colors it allows is 256
and any larger lost a few tints and hues.See my original painting here
: [link] This is Aeden. I realized I had never painted a full-scale image of him before (besides the animation of his running as a horse. shapeshifters ftw.) Yes, I have way too many white-haired characters.

I'm honestly not sure, at least not for the specific work I did here. As far as I know, the puppet pin tool is exclusive to After Effects. But Toon Boom might be a good program to try. I've been looking into it myself. It's bred specifically for character animation and storytelling.
If you're trying to tween in After Effects without doing every frame by hand, go to creative cow and look up "basic morph". All you do is take that process and apply it to your frames. It only works some of the time, though.

wow, this is rly great! so like the blinking was somefin u drew in photoshop and played frame-by-frame in final cut? how was the flowing of the hair done? in final cut too? O_O

Yes about the eyes, and the hair was moved with the puppet pin tool in After Effects

This is amazing! The movement of his hair looks perfect and those eyes are gorgeous. I love the leaves in the foreground being out of focus too - it really adds depth to the image. This is a very beautiful and inspiring piece~

Nice. Just one thing - I noted there's a light source (from the lighting render), but there's no light source on the image, so it looks a bit odd to me.

Love the way his hair's moving, I can really see it being blown by the wind the way it's working now. And I really like how his eyes are, color and all.
You did a great job on the shading and the leaves in the foreground too.
