I've always loved sketchbooks, and the freshness of the drawings they contain. They may be full of missteps and technical shortcomings (compared with the more polished works), but they breathe with the rough uncertainty of life. I love their expressions here, and the intimacy of their touch.

Thats not long ago I appreciated all the advantages of sketchbook and fast drawings, the pieces which I make foremost fore myself, when I dont care of perfection of drawing; such drawing turns out more sincer and emotional.

Yes, I think that is an important reason why they are so fresh -- we sketch for ourselves mostly, out of the immediate feeling or emotion or thought. I know a lot of my sketches have a raw honesty, where I don't really think about what some other person will think. Sometimes I don't even think I understand what is behind a sketch. It's just an image in my imagination, and I try to get it on paper. I still am very free with letting other people look through my sketchbooks, but I don't always go into all the details of why a particular drawing is there....

Очень нежный рисунок...зная их историю, полагаю, что это сцена расставания, такие драматичные лица. Мне очень нравится , что нет жарких объятий, а только контакт рук - это придает еще больше отчаяния!
