haha I love it! Reminds me of some of those old naturalist books full of waterpaintings of plants and animals

That was indeed the inspiration for this piece. Glad you like it!

It kind of got taken apart and sold separately. Sad, but I guess I needed the cash!

well what can i say that everyone else hasn't?
good job. it pleases my eye and stimulates the brain. one can't help but imagine what if those bugs were real. you really used the mediums well and blended them pretty flawlessly.
kudos

Thank you so much! I agree this was a pretty successful use of varied media. More to come!

is that a mushroom?! I love "real" mushrooms, as opposed to those happy "Alice in Wonderland" things that EVERYONE draws...quite lovely.
I don't care for ants as much as bees (and these have human faces--even more creepy!), but they are well drawn.
You baked the paper? How do you do that, and why?

Well, after I put the coffee on it, I just threw it in the oven at the lowest temperature. It pretty much made them dry faster. The paper seemed slightly stiffer, but not a huge difference. It also made some cool patterns on the backs of the paper.

How did baking the paper affect it? Did it become crispier or something? It sounds interesting. I've tried staining paper, but never thought of baking them before.
You've got a very nice, illustrative style.
I love the ants, and the flowers. Like the kiwi, it's just intelligent work, in lack of a better word.

took a while to reply . . . but baking them really just dried them more quickly. it also made some wierd patterns on the back of the page.
