"How dare you."

Kion paced in front of the Night Pride Queen, his jaw ajar to allow the continual growl to flow from his lips. The rain soaked them both now, since Kion called Rani out onto one of the ledges of Pride Rock as to not disturb the others who were still resting. The sky above was a thick grey, smoked in deep blues, and it could easily be mistaken for dusk as opposed to dawn. "You made me look like fool, and you've put shame on what we have!"

"What do you even mean, Kion?" Rani bristled right back, a pent up scowl overcoming her features. "You and me? We aren't even together. We don't even like each other like that."

He snarled, "I like you like that! How can you not see that?"

"See what? We talk to each other like we're friends. You've not once reciprocated anything I've tried with you. We just aren't on the same page." Rani tried to explain evenly, but her frustration was seeping through her resolve.

"It's because of Vitani, isn't it?" Accusation was leaden in his tone. Rani didn't respond right away, blinking dumbfoundedly at him. He definitely saw them when Vitani was leaving, she realized. That was far from the Queen's main reasoning, but part of her couldn't' deny the growing fondness for the former Outlander. Kion narrowed his eyes at her silence. "You're unbelievable. I never should've went back with you to the Tree of Life the first time. Would've spared me your cruelness, wonder how your subjects like a heartless Queen."

They stood quietly for a moment. The storm waged on, and a droplet of rain rolled down the lion's scarred brow, as if prompting Rani's next words.

"Doesn't matter either way, you're still probably just as plagued as before we healed you, you just won't admit it to yourself." She spat through tears. Harsh as it may be, she wasn't going to allow him to blame her with just half of the story. "You'll never be fit to rule anywhere."

Guess you could say most of my titles are song related lol. This one in particular gave me the idea on how Rani finally told Kion how she felt about him really becoming her King-Consort and that he didn't really belong at the Tree of Life with her, giving Kion the impression that she's leaving him for Vitani (despite Kion and Rani not being a couple, and that she and Vitani don't become official for a long time anyway.)

In mu AU Kion never really heals from the venom, part of him remains with a burning temper. He aggravates easily, leaving him to say things he doesn't mean and act impulsively. He's not evil by any means, but he for sure carries the burden of the snake attack.
