I can't believe I did it!I've been dreaming of making a large, senior maiko ume blossom for quite a while now... (actually before I even starded to make kanzashi
)So here it is! My pride
Made with white lining fabric (I didn't want to spoil too much silk in case of disaster as I still pity those poor worms and my lack of experience)I had to make my own prongs, but it was a quite simple task, I have to say that the most difficult part were the branches with red stamens
As usually I used plenty of rice glue for the flower and to put the golden thread on the wires, but to put everything together- hot glue is irreplaceable
Size:
Flower 8.5cm (!) in diameter
In the widest place it measures 13.5cm, and the rest ~9.5cm .
The prongs are 13cm long- I'm wondering if they aren't too long?

I know what you mean- the beginning is the most difficult, but later it becomes much simplier with every new piece
This one was quite some work, but I'm considering creating another one which will be slightly different but as big as this beauty
