Description

These are four marriage candidates I designed for a Pictish-themed Stardew Valley/Harvest Moon type game I was dreaming up awhile ago. The main addition to the existing farm simulation mechanic is the Reputation system in the game. There are two factions you can gain Reputation with: The Church and The Fairies. Allying yourself with either can have benefits depending on who you want to marry. I wanted to devise a system that's mostly historically accurate while still allowing for same-sex marriage. There are other marriage candidates and characters, but these are the four I've drawn so far.

Here are their character profiles:

Name: Bridei
Role: Heir
Personality: Charismatic and well-liked, Bridei isn’t the most boastful of men but he is certainly confident in his own abilities. He loves the hunt and horse racing. A little more thoughtful than your average nobleman, Bridei nevertheless has no need to question his life of luxury.
Likes: horse gear, jewellery, high quality weapons, butter, wine
Dislikes: low quality crafted items, foraged items, raw materials
Marriage Requirements: Must be wealthy and own horses and dogs. Just as easy for a man to woo, but more difficult for a man to marry - must have very high relationship with the fairies in order to overrule the status hit that Bridei would take from going against the church to marry a man.
Marriage Consequences: Higher status, new horses and servants.
Rival: Mouren

Name: Mouren
Role: Heiress
Personality: Sharp-witted and beautiful, Mouren has a haughty and mischievous side to her. More than a few practical jokes are ultimately traced back to her. She enjoys flaunting her status but is also sincere in her religious faith.
Likes: books, religious jewellery, butter, toys
Dislikes: low quality crafted items, raw materials, fairy items
Marriage Requirements: High wealth, own horses, private chapel on farm. Easier for a man to woo than a woman. Mouren is a woman of faith, so you must be prepared to take on a penitential regime if you seek to marry her to a woman.
Marriage Consequences: Dowry wealth influx, higher status, new servants.
Rival: Bridei

Name: Galam
Role: Monk
Personality: Galam is earnest and gentle, always putting others before himself. He can get quite bashful and has a strong belief in God. His tendency to idolize others makes him easy to tease. He is very compassionate but a bit fearful.
Likes: candles, religious items (any quality), flowers, feathers
Dislikes: weapons, meat, bugs
Marriage Requirements: Must convince to leave monastery. Much easier for a man to woo than a woman.
Marriage Consequences: Permanent relationship hit with abbot, priest, and abbess. Varying relationship hits with other monks and lesser ones with nuns.
Rival: none

Name: Máel Muire
Role: Nun
Personality: Máel Muire isn’t as enamoured of the monastic life as some of the other nuns. She is moody and interested to hear what is going on in the outside world, though she does have genuine affection for some of the other sisters.
Likes: chess pieces, books, make-up, wine
Dislikes: foraged items (except flowers), clothing
Marriage Requirements: Must convince to leave monastery. Easier for a woman to woo than a man.
Marriage Consequences: Permanent relationship hit with abbess, priest, and abbot. Varying relationship hits with other nuns and monks.
