My enrty for QueenOfDragonFire 's design contest! Here's some information on the beast known as the Elryth Creature...

The Elryth Creature is actually two animals; a sea-serpent's body, inhabited and controlled by a parasitic beast. The parasite makes its home in the chest cavity and can control movement and the bioluminescent markings by connecting nerves to the brain of the serpent. The bioluminescent glow draws in small deep-water animals, similar to how an angler fish catches prey; once something drifts close enough, the Elryth shuts off the lights and the parasite extends its tentacles through the mouth and chest to capture its meal. Both of these openings are coated in a layer of ooze from the parasite to prevent anything unwanted getting into the body. As you can see above, there's two "mouths" in those areas- the actual mouth, which belongs to the sea-serpent, and the chest mouth, which is of the parasite. The serpent only eats as much as it needs to survive, and the parasite takes all the other food.
