I think this set here is an excellent example of not only the visual aesthetics of these four separate ideologies, but also in the naming scheme, the literary aesthetics. The romantic usage of "union" and its derivatives in the separate contexts of Democracy, Communism, and Fascism definitely exploit this perfectly!

Now that you mention it, this is more complex than I thought. Democratic Nations tend to have simpler flags with lighter colors, usually white. Many just have tricolors with white in the center. Communist Nations (especially SSRs) tend to be more modern with their designs, usually including a large red field with some additional colors, and usually a hammer and sickle. Fascist countries use bold colors and striking design with heavy contrast, usually to show that they are serious and are willing to take control (or in more modern contexts, for shock factor). Monarchist countries tend to have elegant patterns or coats of arms showing off gold and crowns, symbolizing royalty and luxury. Thanks for the comment!
