So did I - it was such a good excuse to combine 2 of my favourite sci-fi themes!

What a fun concept, and well-executed, as well!
(Just make sure that the Evil Empire lawyers at LucasFilms don't get a hold of it.)

You should repost this at *Prismacolorists or enter it in the contest, it's magnificent! Look at the categories and see where it fits -- "Imaginative" comes to mind. It's spectacular. Pieces with underpaintings do count, or on tinted surfaces -- and to achieve that depth of tone with only two colors, that's awesome!
Note me with a link and I'll post it in the contest if you want to enter it. I haven't been getting entries on the contest yet, so I dared to post my own in hopes people will see that yes, the contest is real, they can win, they should do something awesome and enter it!

Just got it, just went to the club and posted it, go see on the shoutboard! Thank you for being the second entrant. I posted my entries to give people the idea of where they're going -- and then no one else enters? What is it, people think I'm going to load the polls or something? I wanted a chance to win, but not without some others in the running! Besides, you and quite a few others are better than I am even at my best, so it's very odd the way the contest has been so quiet!

This rocks. It's amazing what you can do with a limited palette and light tonal layers -- and it's elegant the way you transformed the buildings into the ones from the movie! Beautiful.

Wow. Yeah. How are the Caran d'Ache Pablo pencils? I've never tried them, there are only two major brands that I haven't tried even a small set of yet, and Pablo is one because it's so expensive -- $195 for the full range set of 120. Do you have any others to compare them to? The results are certainly spectacular in this!
I can believe it took three days, because of how precise those soft tonal layers are. They drive me batty sometimes, it's often faster to just burnish down and cover an area!

omg Pablo pencils are worth every $ they cost. I adore them. They are almost creamy in texture. I can't send you over a full set LOL, but I could easily post you over a few colours to play with if you'd like!

Wow! You angel! Thank you so much! I would love to try them, and if you have little stubs, I do have some pencil extenders too. Whatever colours you send, I know that I'll wind up inspired to the subjects they suggest -- that is the fun of limited palettes for me, only I never use the same limited palettes over and over, pick different ones at a time.
I can't wait to try these. Thank you! I noted you my snail address already, got so excited when I saw this message. I've heard so much about them -- that they're softer than Prismacolor, that they're harder than Prismacolor, that they're great, that they're weird, I know the colours don't match because colours never do unless it's lemon yellow, black, white or the metallic gold and silver. (I have no idea why all lemon yellow coloured pencils DO match exactly in hue and value, it's something weird about just that colour!) Any colours you sent would be great, because I haven't met a colour I didn't like or couldn't use -- and can also blend them with the other sets if I need to, that's one of the things I want to test of course.

Art Deco is my bΓͺte noire, like knotwork for you! I can never get the angles right; the perspective in the pictures is always so different from that we'd use today. So I'm doubly pleased that this worked!

This is way damn cool! I actually do want to know how long it took you to get that blurry shading, the texture makes the whole thing.
In love!

well, put it this way, I put the background paint layer down on Friday. Most of the weekend and Monday was taken up with pencil! It took *hours*. But I deliberately worked very slowly in layers to try and get that effect and I think it worked!

Are you familiar with the work of Hugh ferriss? He has a book "Metropolis of Tomorrow" if you like this sort of thing.
