Been awhile since I uploaded a request, eh?This is a request fill for ~CommanderD who was hoping to see some Ludwig von Drake from me. I can understand why, since he's only THE GREATEST CHARACTER OF ALL TIME. Seriously, who doesn't love him? Today he is teaching astronomy. For what reason, I couldn't tell you, but I'm sure he has a rad song for the solar system just like Yakko Warner.
I've been wanting to draw Ludwig surfing on a tilty chalkboard for forever. This was my excuse to do so.
This is a pretty sloppy picture, Commander, so I apologize. Got a long list of requests and I guess I'm trying to show the same amount of sloppiness in all of them to be fair.
Hope this is okaaaay.

I can't tell you how much I agree with this statement! I can just imagine him singing about the solar system too! And I read your title with his voice in my head, accent and all. He'd be the best astronomy professor, EVER. I love how epic he looks with his pose and everything. I also like how you did this in flats. I could see it animated.

So yeah. Ludwig Von Drake? Awesome. This pic? Also awesome. I LOVE the composition, so energetic and lively and befitting of Von Drake's eccentric personality. Indeed, I think the nicest thing about the pic is how well you capture Von Drake's essence as a cartoon character with his visibly-animated pose; watch any old Von Drake cartoon, and you'll see he's a character the animators always had a blast stretching and skewing and playing around with, something you yourself do nicely here. The black-and-white background does render your perspective a touch confusing, but it also adds nicely to the sense of excitement in the picture. Lovely, lovely work.

Much like Merlin in "The Sword and the Stone", Ludwig has a lot of details to keep track of-his spectacles, his sleeves, his jacket-and the animators quite clearly loved to play around with them; just watch his performance of the Spectrum Song some time 'n' pay attention to the subtle movements of his specs 'n' sleeves throughout.

Ha, you would have loved my American History teacher in middle school. He played the Animaniacs' "The Presidents Song" over and over again when we were learning all of their names. It worked, too! And I still remember bits of that song, years later.

I agree. Ludwig Von Drake is a spectacular Disney character, but also an overlooked one too. And to be honest, I think this is the first fan art I'd even seen for this character.
You did a splendid job with this image. I love the perspective here and the use of colors on the main figures to stand the image out. Really great work indeed Elera.

Excellent work! Artwork for the professor is so rare, and yet this is the best I've seen of him! The entire background and setting really gives him great character, like it really is a place you would catch him in. The way he is positioned on top of of a 'colorless' background almost gives the effect of a pop-up book, as does the position of the solar system - almost like we can reach out and touch a star ourselves. The choice of texture is perfect, and the professor himself looks flawless. He's being his classic kooky self, and that's why we love him, and that's why we love you.
