Description Well, I have both Avatar Traveling Art Books [link] packed up and ready to deliver to tomorrow(ok, today) evening. How neat, being the final waypoint for both books before BP delivers them to the Avatar creators.

I was originally the end point for the Pacific Traveling Book, so I put my illustration contribution at the end of that one, and you can see the scan of it here.

It's Zuko, Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph depicted as those mountainside statues traditionally done of the Buddha, Hindu Gods, and mythological critters. Two random travelers pause to look up at the legendary figures carved into the mountainside.

My text:
"Thank you for sharing a wonderful story with all of us.

"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is © Michael DiMartino, Bryan Konietzko, and Nickelodeon.

For I-have-a-real-life-and-a-job reasons, I have not seen the final ATLA episodes yet (I mean anythng after Firebending Masters)... No spoilers please and thank you.

I- had no idea such a project existed. I guess I must be a cyber-hermit as well as a literal one... I need to poke my head out more, see what's happening. This is a beautiful piece- concept, composition, execution. (In Jet-like drawl- Verrry nice...)

Well, it's been a while ago now, and it happened pretty fast.

Thank you.

Loving it Elfgrove.

Putting the elemental symbols on each of their respective foreheads is an excellent touch.

Thank you. I was trying to do something fitting with leaving it as the remains of a legend.

That's so awesome! I myself have become a fan of the series, and I think it's pretty cool. I love all the detail you put into it, like the cracks on Sokka's sword, and the missing stone body parts. And the clothes detail is spectacular. I just saw the final episode, and it's phenomenal. I hope you have a chance to get back into ATLA soon.

Yeah, months later, and I still haven't watched the ending. I guess I'm waiting until I pick up the final DVD box set.

Meh, I bought the first two Wolf's Rain DVD's a while ago and I still haven't watched the second one because of a mix of laziness and busy-ness. XP

Yeah, I wanted to indicate it had been an insanely long time after. The avatar cycle is gone, and such things relegated to nothing more than legend.

Thankees. I tried to be creative and do something different with it... And to do something that felt like an ending to a story.

That looks awesome, can just imagine, like a future avatar series and where they go they can see these statues honouring the past heroes, one question: Wheres Suki?! she played just as an important part as Zuko and only joined the gaang like 2 episodes after he did, but besides from that great job.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

elfgrove In reply to Tilligan [2008-07-24 14:15:04 +0000 UTC]

Besides, even before he joined the team, Zuko had a large hand in shaping their path. The same cannot be said for Suki. (And I had limited space to work in-- otherwise I would've drawn the full entourage from "The Firebending Masters".)

[You spoil me again I'm gonna beat you with a dead fish. This crap is why I stopped drawing Avatar stuff.]

My apologies and sympathies, i had no idea, i mean i just assumed, i meant no offence, it is an awesome picture and your point about Suki is valid. So sorry

Well, not rallying, just the San Diego destination.
Aww! I wish you had too. There's no Japanese location on either path.
