Here's a quote that I recently completed in calligraphy. It's one of my favorite quotes from LotR, but it's only in the books. It, as the title proclaims, is a Gimli quote. (Yeah, Gimli said that?!)Date Completed: 04.19.2007
Time: ~2 hours
Materials: Sharpies, black inking pen, Silver Paint sharpie, 2.5 mm calligraphy pen
Alphabet: Half-uncial
Quote Source: LotR books (FotR: The Ring Goes South). This is a remark Gimli says to Elrond.
Again, the quote is copyright Tolkien and the calligraphy is copyright me.

I like the style. The font really fits well with the nature of the quote. I also like the way you've, again, matched the first letter to the border. Actually I think the first letter is done really well overall anyway.

Thank you. It was kind of adapted from the writing on the LotR movies, which I think fits the style of art really well. The versal letter was a lot of fun to do, too.

Ah, right. Well, I haven't seen the movies. It looks like the writing in some of the maps in the books though.

In the films, the writing is in the beginning credits, sometimes the ending credits (at least for the names of the main cast/crew) and whenever they show maps.

This is really better than the rogh version, for I like the colouration more. It just fits better to the quotation. This version of the versal looks cool, because one can read it better. Again, your works on quotaions are wonderful!

Thank you. I think it's better than the rough draft version, too... Silver/dark red/light blue seems to fit Gimli better than dark blue and green do. Aye, and as Legolas would say, hannon le. (I don't know what "thank you" is in the Dwarvish tongue...)

much better. but.....it could still use some negative space at the bottom. it's just too heavy. but it looks great.
