to be honest If i had never read the title i never would have guess this to be a picture of michonne from the thumbnail.
She looks more black in the lineart but when you colored it in you made her nose smaller, her lips smaller and her skin light as hell. It's shame you did this to what would of been an otherwise great fan art of a powerful and deep black character that i rarely see fan art of. very disappointing.

As this is an individuals own interpretation of the character and not a piece you paid for its kind of aggressive for you to judge this to your own standards. In no way do I feel the artist has insulted or took away from Michonne as a zombie killing, deeply troubled individual for altering her appearance.

with all due respect whether I paid for it or not is not a deciding factor on whether I can critique/criticize another artists work. The character itself is "intact" (arguable considering michonne is a fictional character) however I am touching on a subject that happens a lot not only when artist depict characters but even when characters are assigned actors/physical bodies. The artist is depicting michonne not by her comic form but by her actress. It is unfortunate but when I see artist depict established black characters, which is rare, they sometimes alter the characters to lean to look phenotypically white. This can happen through different ways. In this case the artist chose to lighten her skin, narrow her nose and lips.
the artist can do WHATEVER he/she likes. But that doesn't mean i can not point out and express disappointment for the artist's choices.

Truth. It's nothing to take away from the artist's interpretation, but it does raise the question of why rich, dark skin tones on the few major characters in the media are lightened and given generally Caucasian features. Like with Storm in the upcoming X-Men movie. if they didn't say who she was playing as I never would have known.

Not to get into an overlly complicated race and beuty debate
But I think it's a combination of white features still being seen as the most desirable as well as hollywood's belief that their audience is 100% white and that white people can't relate to someone who looks /too/ different from them.
In the case of this image theres a common theme among the artists women and that is pouty lips and dainty features. Not to throw shade, but all the women look more or less the same. This is fine, the artist has their preferences, but it's a shame they chose to fall back to homogenity than try to find beauty in a different face. While I'm sure the artist wasn't trying to be problematic, their actions are symptomatic of underlying issues we face when defining beauty.

My one word of critique would be the skin - Michonne has much darker skin tones: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…
Though, it's probably super hard to get nice dark tones with Copic markers. So it probably can't be helped.
The rest is super good - I love the implied action and the great composition! Excellent work!
