These are two different models of course but the reason of course is that they were from different games, for instance the blaze model, was from Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) while the cream model was from Sonic and Mario at the Olympic games.They make quite a pair eh?
Credit goes to Luigimario and sonicfan102(I think) for rip and edit for the use of Garryβs mod 10 - 12.

I'm curious as to how they managed to rip them from a console game, as I've never been able to do it.

I never quite asked them that question, so i dont realy know either.
Could be as simple as putting in the disk and useing some freeware to copy the models and convert for 3ds use and so forth.
