Holy, exquisitely phenomenal! This Wondrous New York Oceanscape is stunning and The Majestic Titanic looks incredible. The designs, Statue of Liberty, Lady Liberty, crown, expression, mast, sails, stern, starboard, smoke tankers, smoke, flags, power lines, cables, Captain's quarters, ship lights, windows, doors, red light, sky, clouds, flock of birds, flight, wings, water, waves, ripples, reflection, wind, mist, transparency, medium sized ship, decor, movement, flow, effects, realisticness, perspective, atmosphere, hues, textures, composition, concept, uniqueness, style, colors, lighting, and other details are also sensational. Amazingly Beautiful work!

If only she had achieved that glory. If only.
I'm not a huge fan of the Raise the Titanic movie, but the best part I believe in it was when Titanic was towed into New York. It was truly bittersweet.

Such a beautiful painting. The Statue of Liberty peeking through the fog almost gives me chills. The thought of Titanic sailing triumphantly out of the fog upon arrival to New York is amazing and heartbreaking, and I love the way that the colours and fog here support those emotions.

I wonder if the ship would have survived the next 106 years had she not sunk or if britian would have used then scrapped her like the brittanic

Unfortunately, I don't think she would still be around today. Her older sister, the Olympic, never sank, and was scrapped in the late 30s. So I guess she would have lasted 20-25 years before being destroyed.

Beautiful image! The early morning (or afternoon, or whatever time it's supposed to be) fog/mist adds a nice textural layer to it. Very well done!
Would have loved to have been living at that time -- or borrow a Time Machine (heck, I'd settle for a Holodeck Simulator program) and visit -- and seen the Pride of White Star in all her splendor. Until, I've got my DVD of the '97 film and my imagination.Β
If I've posted about this previously, I apologize. I had the good fortune to see the Titanic traveling artifact exhibit. One of the most breathtaking pieces (to me) was an actual side section of the hull that had been recovered. In the same room, there was a chunk of ice, shaped like the tip of an iceberg, kept constantly chilled to 28 Degrees Fahrenheit (the temperature of the North Atlantic that April night), and "volunteers" (visitors) were "encouraged" to place their hands on the "ice" to see how long they could stand the cold before they had to pull their hands away; many lasted only a minute or two. imagine having to tread stay afloat in water that cold for a full half-hour!Β
She actually *did* complete her journey on screen, nearly a decade before the '97 film was released... as a *ghost ship* in "Ghostbusters 2." Imagine seeing that coming down the streets of New York City! (Yes, she actually sailed up onto dry land.)Β
In retrospect, Titanic's fate seemed to foreshadow White Star's: the company, like its proud ship, ultimately went under years later. Meanwhile, which is among the most successful cruise ship lines today? Cunard (the line that owned the little -- compared to Titanic -- and truly mighty Carpathia). How's that for irony?Β

You can really feel the somberness within the coloration, its nicely done but at the same time tragic... I'm impressed.

As a person from Northern Ireland I have heard the name Titanic over and over and over again. To be honest it gets very boring after a while. But I do like how you have imagined how it would have been if it never sunk (other than their not being a movie about it) is very good. Β
Quick facts:
1: The Titanic was ment to be the biggest ship of itβs time with 4 chimneys, but one of them was fake to give that impression.
2: A woman named Violet Jessop is well known for being on both Titanic and Britannic when they sank and survived both, coincidence or bad luck charm?
3: If you ever come to Belfast and you find yourself on a street with tall curved metal Β towers, those are the names of the Titanic and her sister ships with a description on a plack. Β
Thatβs all the facts I can remember and I hope you find them interesting .Β
Nice work!

Gorgeous! I love the fog effect. It gives it a sort of melancholic feeling.Β
I often wonder what would of happened if Titanic made it to New York. Would she be as famous? Or just another cruise ship? Would she have been turned into a hospital ship like Britannic, or a transporter like Olympic? So many questions.Β

EliottSontot In reply to DancingMouse [2018-10-15 09:05:46 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
She wouldn't have been as famous as she is right now, but she would still have been a well-known ship with a brilliant career I guess - just like the Olympic... of course if she would have survived the First World War first.

I don't think she'd be as famous if she'd made it. She'd still be known among ocean liner enthusiasts, but not a household name. This is always interesting to think about....

On the one hand she was a nice looking ship... However on the other hand she was horribly out dated... I mean her engines and propellers were just comically oversized outdated technology... Literally...
I'm actually pretty sure the ship that rescued the survivors was more modern than she was... I'm almost positive she did more good sinking than any kind of career she could have had...
For one she was literally only built for northern icy sea travel... The Titanic had a Twin Sister Ship which was eventually turned into a medical ship for one of the Asian wars...
That ship eventually sank when it hit a sea mine... It actually sank faster than the Titanic because it had all of it's windows open at the time... It had all of its windows open because the ship literally had no form of cooling system...
