Description Okay, there's a story behind this.

During finals week at school, I was so stressed out from studying and such. One night before went to bed, I got this crazy idea of looking back on some old childhood movies I used to watch. I watched Land Before Time: Journey Through the Mists.

OH THE NOSTALGIA, IT WAS GLORIOUS!!!!

Soon, I found myself going back to those movies and more memories of my childhood coming back. And to be honest, I found that I got a whole lot more out of them now than I did then. Some of the themes they touch on are pretty powerful.

And even now, Littlefoot is still probably my favorite character.

Enjoy!

It's been like forever since I've seen The Land Before Time. And the way you retold the movies on Fanfiction.net was great.

One problem I always had was did they all need to be musicals and why?

It's because the fist land before time was a Don Bluth movie- a man who has outright stated that you can traumatize a kid as much as you want as long as there’s a happy ending. (on another note 11 minutes of footage was cut from the first movie for being 'too scary') And when they decided to make the- direct to video sequels- Β the company producing them wanted some one more 'child friendly' so they would 'appeal to a younger audience'

I think kids are tougher than they appear. Take a look at The Dark Crystal.

Well, the first one wasn't. Β And I don't know, I never really thought about that too much. Β Then again, I was a kid when I first saw the movies so I didn't think about it too much then. Β Besides, it's just a small part of the story, so I wouldn't really consider it a big deal.

I was a kid when the sequels came out too. I ignored them for the most part.

I thought some were kind of catchy and some were rather sweet. Β Then there were those I didn't care too much for. Β Again, it's all a matter of opinion.

Very cute Though I always pictured Littlefoot a bit smaller... Still the land before time was a big part of my childhood too.

I was picturing him more of what he would look like if he was standing next to a human about ten or twelve years old. In terms of height, he would be a little bit bigger.

Thanks, this series will always have a special place in my heart.

Animedino1 In reply to EliseLowing [2013-06-22 09:01:43 +0000 UTC]

Yes I guess realistically he would be that big compared t a human. It's I used to do a lot of drawings of me with the LBT gang as a kid and I awlays drew Littlefoot, Cera and Spike about the size of cats or small dogs.
Still this series has a special place in my heart too. It's thanks to it and Jurassic park I was such a dinosaur nut as a kid.

As a kid, I loved cartoons with talking animals. And I still do to a degree. They have a charm.

Also, if you think about what these kids had to go through, they're pretty brave. I mean, they face T-Rex's, prehistoric alligators, and so much more. They have to be very brave to do what they do.

However, although I still enjoy the series, I can admit that I do have some problems with it now. And in the way they speak, compared with the way we speak today, one may look at it as childish. But given that they wouldn't have an advanced speaking system as we would, it does make sense.

But that's just a small detail and not that big of a deal in retrospect.
