have you ever read "A Horse Named Doodlebug"? I think it might be the very last pic in the book where the resemblance to this horse in uncanny. Not ever picture, just one

Thank you! However, after all the recent fuss, I'd like you to know I traced the outline for him from a picture of Apollo. I do all the color and shading myself, and make changes, of course, but I thought you should know that I trace the outlines of my horses. I focus more on the shading and making it look realistic than the lines. If you're interested, all my other Friesians are open for stud or lease as well, with a bunch more on the way!

Enchanted Melody's first day of training. (P.S. you might want to change 'offspring-none yet' to 'offspring-one'.

I can't wait to see her grown up! Thanks for the reminder, I put all the offspring in the points section at the bottom. Trying for a star in FHA-HARPG!

As I'm not a Premium Member, I canβt write a critique in the critique box. Nor am I, by any means the most experienced/best digital equine artist on DA. But I do know a little about equine anatomy, so I will try to help
First off Iβd like to say that the overall outline of this artwork is absolutely stunning, and the highlighting as very catchy and beautiful, although it may have paid to put a little more definition in neck muscles
Anatomy wise there are a few things that are slightly off. I think Iβll start from the head. The first thing Iβd like to point out is his eye, which is far too large for his head and very human-like. Equine eyes are quite round with very little/no white showing. I understand that many artists purposely alter the eye to give the horse more expression or character, or humanise it a little. I apologise if Iβve offended you in any way, as this may have been a look you were trying to achieve
The second this Iβd like to point out is his jowl (jaw/cheek β whatever you want to call it) Friesians, or stallions in general, tend to have quite large jowls. Even for a mare/gelding the jowl shown on Parmentoer is far too small, which may also have emphasised the large appearance of his eye. The muscle stricture of his face is quite nice, but seems bulky due to the small jaw. His nostril could also have been a little bigger
Moving back now, the neck is quite nice, but seems a little out of place, particularly where it meets the shoulder. I think thickening the base of the neck would fix that. The shoulder itself is a very nice shape, but in comparison to the rest of the horse, seems rather small and weak. There isnβt really much I can critique about the legs, apart from perhaps a little more detail in his joints. The join between the leg and the shoulder has a very dark line running across it, which gives the illusion that the leg is somehow separated from the main body
I must say, the rump is very nice. The only thing really letting down that backside is the flank. Itβs far too far back, or the wrong shape or something else I canβt quite put my finger on, which makes it look as if half the tensor muscle (thigh) has been chopped off
Again, Iβm sorry if this has offended you in any way. Youβre a brilliant artist, and I know how hard it is to get anything anatomically correct, particularly the equine body, and itβs obvious that youβve worked very hard on this. Iβm just one of those people who will stand in a paddock and admire a horse, before pulling it to pieces and picking out the things I do and donβt like. I hope my critique has seemed fair. If not I give you full permission to write back and call me a bitch, and spam my profile with a ton of hate mail

That's okay; I'm allowing Gypsys to breed with my horses because they developed in Romania, which is a Romanic/Latin-based country, and therefore their horse breeds are Baroque. I think. Anyway, Gypsies are allowed. What? That isn't in my journal? I'll change it right away!

I didn't say it wasn't in your journal. it might be. I just didn't think you wanted to breed a half-bred foal. I know I don't want to cross breed but I'm sorely tempted right now to breed my mare to him!
