Description “I’m dying of boredom,” Howl said pathetically. “Or maybe just dying.”
He was lying propped on dirty grey pillows, looking quite poorly, with what might have been a patchwork coverlet over him except that it was all one colour with dust. The spiders he seemed to like so much were spinning busily in the canopy above him.
Sophie felt his forehead. “You do have a bit of a fever,” she admitted.
“I’m delirious,” said Howl. “Spots are crawling before my eyes.”
“Those are spiders,” said Sophie. “Why can’t you cure yourself with a spell?”
“Because there is no cure for a cold,” Howl said dolefully.

Diana Wynne Jones - Howl's Moving Castle
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Howl "dying" because of an ordinary cold. One of the funniest scenes in the whole book.
I spent something about two weeks working on it (because I didn't have enough time to do it at once). Am I becoming more patient?

PFFAHAHA! And what's amusing is that we can all relate to that! I think it was very fun of Ms. Jones to add that into her story!

As for the image itself, the color selection is perfect, the muddied colors give that dreary feeling one gets when they're sick; and the presentation of the scene is spot on! Well done and well worth the DD. Congratulatons! =3

How cute! (the sentimate and the picture). This may seem odd, but I really like the eyebrows. I don' tknow if you want a critique....but what I would say is that the fingers might look a little narrow?

I love this! I love the fact that it's based on the book and not the movie, not even a scene that's in the movie. I love it so much. I was so excited I almost cried.

Super old art work featured?
There's something you don't see too often.

Either way, I love this. If the expression on his face wasn't enough, the horrible mess of his room just tops it all off.

It's not often that one sees fanart based on THE BOOK, and I agree, this is one of the best parts.

Howl is just so much more... Howl-like in the original novel. xD

And now, I feel like reading it again... If only to laugh at Sophie running up and down the stairs, fetching things for the 'dying' wizard.

Thanks for sharing this deviation!

Haha, oh I know how he feels. Can't blame him for the melodrama.

The detail in this is wonderful. I love that the tea looks untouched, as if he has chosen not to do anything about his cold and has opted to wallow in misery instead. The pose is perfection

The book is best- If not just because Howl has a accent, but he also isn't completely retarded.
Besides- I LIKED Castle in the sky. I thought it was more fun to see old minor characters resurface, though.
Grats on the DD- Very deserving.

Ah, sorry to butt in like this, but I just finished the new book myself. ^^ It's called "House of Many Ways" and although it's more of a sequel than "Castle in the Air", Howl and family are still not the main characters. It's not nearly as wonderful as "Howl's", but it is quite charming in it's own right...or at least I thought so! Hope that helps!
