Started out as rough sketches I did for a painting in school.Would you consider this anime style?

i do think this looks animeish but its a pretty unique look its kinda in between anime western cartoons and realism. which i think works pretty well

does not look like anime to me, the second one does a little.. I love the lineart, the strokes are so nice.

I love the girl's hair also (the one on the bottom).

It's highly Asian inspired if that's what you mean.
At least, that's how it looks to me.
On a scale of 1-10 of Anime-ness, I'd give it 7.
But it's quite well done for a sketch. If I had to relate it to anything, I'd kind of say "Nana" (manga by Ai Yazawa) really matches. And she does a mix of realism with anime-ism. Pretty nonetheless.

Considering that the characters themselves look kind of asian yes, but also because of the way you have coloured it and the ratios of the face and body (they all allude to anime) Especially the way you have drawn the hands and the longish slender torso's. But saying that i can tell you've tried to go for a more realistic style, and it's actually a really nice blend
