The 6s stabilize and order the unbridled and sometimes destructive energy of the 5s and are associated with the sun, with clarity, order and energy of life. We find our center, whether emotionally, rationally or physically to deal with the adversity we’ve encountered, learn lessons from it and go forward stronger and wiser for it.
In the case of the element of Earth this translates into material success. The card is associated with harmony, achievement, wealth, and the fulfillment of wishes. We reach our goals as we give and receive help in order to do so. Events tend to work out in our favor, sometimes because of our investment of time, skill and effort, sometimes because we just seem to be in luck. Overall we find that having an optimistic outlook in life pays off.

In the Rider-Waite deck a richly dressed man in red and blue robes stands between two kneeling figures with outstretched hands who implore him for alms. He holds a pair of golden scales in his left hand and gives small gold coins to the person on his right. The group is surrounded by 6 pentacles. For my card I wanted to show both the sense of achievement that comes with drawing this card as well as the mix of effort and luck that needs to be present for success. We also need to keep in mind that most of our successes are not achieved in a vacuum but that we have to rely on many people around us to realize them. They are built on the inventions of people who came before us, the willingness of friends and colleagues to pitch in and help out, the countless people who were involved with our upbringing and education and who grow our food, build our machines, take care of our health and provide all the necessities of life we often don’t spare a thought for as we strive for our goals.

I drew a group of 6 mountaineers who have reached a summit offering them a spectacular view of the snow-clad peaks around them. They are roped together for safety to show that their achievement was a team effort. They have earned the beautiful view they are enjoying now, but what they experience is not just due to their dedication. Without the weather playing along, the storms holding off and the sun making the snow glisten and glow their success would have been perhaps impossible or at least less sweet.

In a spread the card signifies that you are reaching that magical moment where everything, your effort, the support of those around you and a little luck come together to make your hopes and dreams come true. As this is an Earth card your success will be mostly of a material nature. It could be financial, the tangible result of a project you worked on, overcoming a physical barrier, such as a disability or illness, or moving to a place of your dreams. As you celebrate your success remember those who helped you on your path and be grateful for them. Perhaps you have an opportunity to pay it forward and help others achieve their goals.
