Lovely. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I saw it - I consider myself a Ravenclaw at heart, but silver and green are my favourite colours.... am I confused, then? lol

Thanks so much! It was really fun making some Slytherin inspired jewelry. Silver, serpents and black and green stones are just such a perfect mix!

No, sounds good. After all, the snake isn't my invention either - came right from Lucius' cloak clasp...

Yup, it was the two snakes on his cloak in COS and in the quidditch World Cup in GOF. In COS he wore them open, and in GOF it showed that their tails linked together to close the cloak as a clasp.

What exactly is art clay?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ellygator In reply to adrianh92 [2010-10-12 12:16:57 +0000 UTC]
It's a mix of pure silver particles in a clay base of cellulose and water that can be shaped like polymer clay. Once a piece is finished it is fired at 1600 in a kiln where the cellulose burns off and you are left with a 999 pure silver object. You can find out much more here: www.artclayworld.com

Is it easy to work with? Meaning does it mold pretty easily?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Ellygator In reply to adrianh92 [2010-10-13 21:47:55 +0000 UTC]
Well, kinda - if you want to mostly mold, I recommend slow dry, the normal type dries very fast so you have little time. Once dry for sanding and caring, you can sometimes break a piece which then is a bitch to fix. So given other materials like polymer clay or sculpey it's not the most forgiving I guess...

For the normal stuff if you had cut out a mold and pressed the art clay into it, would it work? Or no? Would it just be better to get the slow drying stuff and hand mold it.

If you have a good detailed mold, then you can certainly press the clay into it and be done with it.

I'd be happy to make a replica. With a wire chain like the one in the gallery it would be $120, with a threaded stone chain (onyx and peridot) it would be $100. Please note me if you'd like to order one.

would you make that to order?

Ellygator In reply to Akio-Sama [2007-08-20 15:44:27 +0000 UTC]
I'd be happy to. As shown in the photograph the necklace comes to $250, however, I could also string the necklace part with stones which would make it less labor intensive and come in at $200. All of the materials are genuine gemstones, sterling silver and 999 pure silver. Please let me know if you would be okay with that price and how long you need the necklace to be to fit you well, and I'd be happy to make one for you. The current stones I use are jet, obsidian or black tourmaline for the black accents, and peridot or vesuvianite for the green. If you want different stones I can make that happen, also.
