Description (2006) 5"x 4" for both silver panels, 18" for overall length of the necklace.

Art Clay Silver (cut, sculpted, fired and patinaed), faceted Peridot coin beads, onyx beads, silver beads, Bali silver, silver finding for the clasp, Fireline

One of the Art Clay pieces I intended to work on over the holidays. I had many more sculpted, but the best I can think is that the damp, cold weather got the better of me and the greenware didn't dry properly before firing as everything tore and warped in the kiln and several pieces were total losses. I'm still pretty bummed out, since the last thing you want to bugger up is a 20 gram piece of pure 999 silver you've already spent 10 hours worth of work on - it's bloody expensive.

I have a few other survivors that I'll post over the next few days. Some will still get some glass bead pendants made for them.

**EDIT**

I actually remade the necklace finding the original rather brittle after all and have uploaded some new and better images as well.

A copy of this necklace is also now a commission for the lovely

Thank you! The silver clay jewelry certainly is pretty work intensive, but I so like it when pieces turn out all right!

I can only imagine, and it has to be kinda sad when it breaks or something - but the finished pieces so look worth it!

gooooooooooorgeous! I almost bought a gown that would have gone perfectly with this... buuuuuuuut it was $800...

Thanks, and ouch - that is a kingly price for a gown. I bet with that color it would have been a total head-turner, though!

Ellygator In reply to AriadneT [2007-01-14 14:56:36 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ellygator In reply to MorticiaAdams [2007-01-02 14:22:30 +0000 UTC]

Danke Dir!

Osa-Art-Farm [2007-01-02 03:08:21 +0000 UTC]

Spectacular design work. Very dramatic.

That silver clay is trickier that it appears (I took a class). I think it just takes a lot of experimenting which I am afraid to do $.

Sorry to hear you lost all of your hard work and pmc.

This piece is so lovely though! I love the yellow and spring green together.

This reminds me of some of the jewelry work by alphonse mucha. Are you familiar with his work?

Ellygator In reply to GraceWillard [2006-12-31 14:50:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! And yes, he's always been a big inspiration to me, both in his astounding line-work and in his fantastic jewelry designs (some for real and some just on the wonderful models he drew...) I'm very flattered actually that you spotted the link.

This particular piece is actually based on the amazing line-work in the Everyman's Library series of classics that were published by Dutton & Co. of London at the turn of the 19th century. You can still pick them up pretty cheaply at antique booksellers in England, and I own a few.
