Thank you. Love me a bit of morbid Victorian from time to time...

Another piece for Mucha to envy!Β I normally dislike faceted garnets--I tend to prefer semiprecious stones to just be polished ovals or circles--but the faceted drop and beads really compliments the intricacy of the scroll work and the chain links.Β Not being a Buffy buff (forgive me), my first thought was of pomegranates and Persephone.Β I can easily envision Rossetti's "Proserpine" (one of my all-time favorite paintings) wearing this, shining against her pale skin, framed by her dark green dress and mass of hair.

Thank you! Yes, it could definitely be a Victorian/ Preraffaelite piece as well. I love the association of garnets and pomegranate seeds. It's such an apt representation!
BTW, I have Rosetti's Proserpine hung in my bedroom... Since my PhD was based on Rossetti's art it's still a big thing around the house. At the time, even Greg became a fan, because when we first dated I was just immersed in catalogs, photographs and photocopies on index cards.... So when we started decorating it was Rossetti posters all around!

You're a woman after my own heart!Β I also have a framed version of "Proserpine," albeit a small one.Β Nicholas can't stand anything by Rossetti (one of his few flaws), likes 75% of the PRB's work overall, and loves Sir Alma Tadema and Jacques-Louis David.Β At this point, we've accepted that our domicile is always going to have a Victorian study/hodge-podge look to it!

Well, with Tadema and David, he's half-way redeemed. Now if he can put up with Burne-Jones and Morris, he'll do just fine!

Thank you! I loved the retro look of the rosary chain in the assembly.

Oh yes, indeed, I can just see Drusilla (definitely one of the creepiest characters in BTVS!) wearing this!

Thank you, I agree. I was off red for a while, really into blues, greens and earth colors. But I think it's growing on me...
