Is this a one of a kind piece or have made others like it? I really would more of your pieces...

Thank you! I made a set of four actually. This one, one for a DA friend and one for my sister and sister-in-law. All a little different from each other. I'll post some of the others.

This is a fantastic piece, and I thought that well before I received my gorgeous, similarly-designed Christmas present.Β *HUGS again*Β The color of the Alexandrite (which I'm not that familiar with) is quite surprising, as I would have thought it a garnet save for the rainbow reflections.Β Garnet and silver are always a fine combination, and the idea of the stamp quote becoming the texture is just fantastic.Β Indeed, you could have an author series of these, or even experiment with multiple silver "pages" on one necklace.Β Tolkiens' "Not all who wander are lost" quote would sell well, I should think!

Thanks so much! I was loitering around in Hobby Lobby waiting for a few mattes to be cut and picked up the Poe stamp as well as your woodgrain stamp. After than I just knew I had to do something with them using clay. I went for fairly simple shapes so the textures had the center of attention, and somehow after I had the squarish shape, I just decided to set at least one square stone to see how that would work. I think it's a good contrast to the looping calligraphy of the script...

Yeah, I get a mini heart-attack every time I order some, now... It used to be like $1 per gram, now it's more like $3... I should probably branch out into copper or bronze clay.

a question, is it really to handle like polymer clay? I wanted to make 1 single pendant for my kid, but, can't afford to buy any extra tools or stuff for it

Well, the big difference is that you need much higher temperatures than polymer clay to set it. Yes, you can sculpt it using just simple tools like toothpicks, or you can file it once it's hardened, to really bring it out as pure silver you have to fire it in a kiln at about 1600 degrees Fahrenheit, or 870 degrees Celsius. You'd probably need to find a friend with a kiln or a place like a school or club where people regularly fire clay pots and such.

Well, I'm not super hung-up on everything having to be my design. If you wanted to work with me, I'd be happy to make something to your specs. Just note me and let me know.

Man, it's the darn silver clay these days. It used to be about 1$ per gram, now it's more like $3. For this one I think I went through about 30 grams. Throw in an Alexandrite of that size (another $80 off ebay) and that's just the materials at $170. If I add another $40 for bezel wire, bail and bail wire and for work we're looking at $210. Dunno if that's blowing the bank or not...
If you are still up for it, please note me and we can work something out, provided I can another stone at that price. I do have other stones (though none of them square), that I can send you pictures of.
