Thank you! This little "dragon" was quite personal. It was a beautiful orange and brown leopard gecko named Two Spots. She was a really lovely tame one...

absolutely love the scale work. Very convincing and detailed, it's like you can reach out an touch them.
And my sympathy for the loss of your pet.

I don't know what to say about the loss, but, beautiful work! Very beautiful! There's love in every scale and wrinkle. ^_^

Thanks so much! It was quite comforting to draw her and just really look at her. Now I can visualize her so much easily when I think of her.

Another wonderful drawing of yours! I love all your animals, and once again, all these scales and skin and textures are blowing me away.
Have you ever thought about drawing Nagini in this "portrait" kind of way?

I guess seeing that I already extended the club from lizards and geckos to include a baby crocodile, a lovely snake portrait would make a cool addition... It's a really neat idea! Thanks!

Thank you! It was really interesting to think of all the different scales they have on their bodies, and their skin can also be quite wrinkly in some areas. Very cool to try and draw.

Thank you! She enjoyed the time on the patio. We waited for the sun to be behind the house, because geckos are mostly more happy when it's dark, but the stones were still nice and warm, so she went exploring everywhere...

Beautifully done, Elly. Having spent the past few days trying to do justice to a frog in color, I deeply appreciate the level of skill and detail you've achieved in black and white. The skin texture is palpable, and you've captured the odd veining and glossy eyes that geckos and frogs have. I'm glad that Two Spots posed so prettily for you last summer!
May a new reptilian companion be among your surprises this year. If every you want a color tribute, you need only ask. *hugs*

Thank you so much! I think frogs and reptiles have the coolest eyes - all that speckled sparkling gold... I am hoping to adopt a baby bearded dragon later in the spring. The mother has just mated, so there will be about three months for the eggs to hatch and then the owner wants to make sure all the babies are healthy and eating well before she gives some of them away.
At least the terrarium won't be empty forever, but I am sure no one can quite take our little gecko's place, it will just be a completely different experience with a new lizard of a different species.

(Pardon the late reply! I've spent the weekend reading one of my birthday presents, "Chronicle of the Queens of Egypt," by Joyce Tyldesley).
I look forward to seeing your new reptilian baby via a portrait or pendant! Snakes are used often enough in jewelry, but I don't recall ever seeing a gecko or lizard pendant, with the tail twining about/becoming the neck chain. Hmmm...
