Description
(2019), 3" inner diameter and 4.5" outer diameter, Delica beads (transparent gold lined, deep bronze gold metallic, matte brown metallic, opalescent silverlined mint, transparent lavender lined, dark blue/ purple metallic, glossy opaque black).
This bracelet is assembled from 4 different triangular bead panels stitched in a mix of Peyote and Herringbone combined into 10 tetrahedra each that move freely on beaded hinges. Depending on how you "cycle" the bracelet it will show four different faces and combinations of bead colors.
Because the tetraheda are hollow the piece looks fairly substantial while still feeling quite light-weight and easy to wear.
Here are two kaleidocycles based not on a 10-tetrahedron pattern, but made up of 6 units each.

You are a true mistress of your medium! This is a fascinating illusion to pull off in 3D--I can only imagine the work involved!

Thanks! It's fun to wear because you can cycle through it and it will change the character of what you're wearing. One side will always be invisible on your wrist, two will show and one will offer a few glimpses. I have a second Caribbean themed in the works. Nearly done!

Thanks so much! It's chunky, for sure, but as the different segments are hollow it's not too bad weight-wise.

I miss being able to wear bracelets, or even watches; I'm told my hand tremors come from being born hypothyroid, and age certainly isn't helping. But I can enjoy good art here and on other people, so I've got no real complaints.

Ugh that's tough! I hope you can find some ways to alleviate the problems.
But, yeah, there's jewelry out there that I would look at and enjoy, but not necessarily contemplate wearing.

Thank you! I always loved kaleidoscopes as a kid. It's so nice to be able to capture some of the effect with beads...

That's awesome! I hope he has a lot of fun with it. If you like check out my journal for vids of the basic techniques done with really big beads so it's easy to see the steps. I'll still keep adding to the library.
