My Halloween costume for 2011. I am slowly preparing myself for a future cosplay with this, so I wanted to test out my paint and my lekku. I wish I had enough money to afford an airbrush, because my method of painting was terrible and long and showed a lot of my brush strokes.The lekku are made out of cloth, which unfortunately had too much of a stretch to it. They were also stuffed with the same stuffing that is in a pillow. Never again. Too bumpy. Going to try those little foam granules next time.
The headdress was custom made by me using scrap fabric I had lying around. Oddly enough I made it just perfect enough to where the lekku didn't need to be secured. All I had to do was slip it on, and even with as heavy as they were, it stayed on all night. I even went dancing.
And drunk people played with them...and they still stayed on...

I used a stretch cotton, which isn't ideal for making lekku but it was within my budget and it matched my face paint. Β I couldn't stuff the lekku too much due to the stretch, and I had to make sure the headdress fit perfectly and wasn't made out of any stretch material to compensate.

I sewed the lekku to the cap and it then served as a hat of sorts. I apparently made it just tight enough to accomplish this.

Incredible cosplay... I wouldn't have guesed the lekku were fabric-made.
As for the paint, what kind did you use? On this pic the brush strokes don't show at all, I could never manage this with either powder or creams...

The makeup is a water based paint made by Paradise. It smells like coconuts!
I had to do a lot of mixing and layering for the brush strokes not to show. The first few times I put it on it was terrible. I wanted to try out this type of paint though because the cream based colors would get washed out in photographs, and I wanted to look PURPLE. But it was the purple paint that was streaking. I didn't have any issues with the white paint though. I had to use less water and more paint to limit the strokes.

Ah, you'd likely be able to modify the method I used, but you'll still have to create a sort of head piece for the base of the montrals.

Hah, yeah, I had to edit my hands in photoshop because the original has the coloration off. I believe it was due to the fact that I drove to the city to go to a club and it was raining outside, so the paint came off and I didn't bother re-applying since it would likely just come off again.

Me too! Purple is my favorite color, and I think twi'leks are super cool too.
