Description
Since 611's return to steam, her former position at the VMT has been occupied by Wabash Railroad No. 1009, an EMD E8 built in 1952 as the 10,000th locomotive built at that company's La Grange plant. After a cosmetic restoration last year, both engines were towed to the North Carolina Transportation Museum's Streamliners at Spencer event, where 611 would undergo her FRA-mandated rebuild from the ground up.
