Description Another shot of the Alucard costume that I've been working on for months. Absolutely one of the most difficult sewing projects I've taken on, but came out unscathed and very happy! For this costume, I wanted to utilize rich fabrics, trims and hand-made elements to bring one of my most beloved characters to life.

✞ The poet shirt and cravat are 100% cotton batiste.

✞ The waistcoat is made from 100% dupioni silk, with hand-set nickle pyramid studs (A lot of patience with that on my part, lol), nickle buckles and vintage metallic lace circa 1940.

✞ The frock coat is 100% velveteen (outer), interlined with black linen, and lined with this amazing silk that has a beautiful paisley/filigree pattern. The frock coat collar is 100% silk textured brocade, and the bias trim down the front of the coat was made by hand from the same material. Finally the looping details are 100% cotton trim in antique gold, coupled with brass enameled buttons.

✞ The cloak is matte duchess satin, lined with a gunmetal crepe satin. The collar was a feat of engineering, and I managed to get the right stand without using any wire or boning -- just a very stiff camel hair interfacing! (*___* Amazing stuff!!) The cloak clips were hand-cast by yours truly, and the sword was purchased, and decorated with large crystals to mimic the 'jewel sword' from the game.

Note: I really wanted to avoid using anything actually metallic for the trims and accents for the frock coat, so this is why it's only on the waistcoat (vest). Didn't want it to become too shiny and distracting, or detract from the other details of the costume overall. ~(^o^)/

Soooo happy with this, you guys, and looking forward to sharing more photos of it on my model come July! Cheers, and be on the look-out for updates!

❤ Ely

Oh wow!  Lovely work.  Far too many Alucard cosplays are made of nasty, shiny, cheap costume satin, so it's really nice to see good materials being used.

Thank you for your kind comments! I love getting into my fabrics (I am a costume major!) and it's true that this influential detail that is very often overlooked! The only negative side to it is costing more. xD

Agreed, but that extra cost can go a long way in terms of improving the costume, so definitely worth it, especially if you have the crafting skills.

Achievement unlocked: Longest possible time for planned cosplay into physical existence, 8 years. xDDD;; (Lolololol)

I can't wait to wear them, either! Down one costume, one more to go. Then we have loads and loads of wig tests, make-up tests + contacts, etc. Fun times ahead and really excited to share it soon!

Trevor would be sliiiiiiiiick, but I'm a slowbro so it'd take me a million years to complete and when people see it they'd be like, "Whoa, that's cool? What's it from?" and I'd be all like "A game, you've probably never heard of those since they've been banned for 20,000 cycles after being attributed to global happiness."

Man, if we lived closer to each other, I'd totally make it for you. D: Like, fro serious. Along with Sylpha. So much love for Castlevania, and I hardly see anyone cosplay from it! It's a travesty. ;~;!

I love the drape of the cloak. Most cloaks I see handmade are all puckered and wrinkled. Good work(wo)manship!

Why thank you! It's fairly difficult to match the fashion outer + lining, no matter how precise you cut either pattern. Having the form to do drape tests, and then readjusting the lot of it seemed to help the most. (My knees and ankles have the bruises to prove it! That been said, I'm pretty sure I swore at this a few times regardless, haha.

I can't stand wrinkles or puckers. What wonders a good iron and steamer can do!
