Description For those of you who read my journal, see, many Erik's. Try and guess who is who!!
Okay you took too long.

From left to right,
Susan Kay's Erik from the novel 'Phantom' and his kitty, meow. I drew him based on the cover.

Kopit's Erik from the 1990 TV mini series, played by Charles Dance. I drew him based off the picnic scene which I thought was a cute part (until the whole unmasking and all...) We never actually see his face in that version tho...

Gerik, from ALW's 2004 movie which I am sure we are all familar with. I know a lot of people who think they are hardcore phans because they feel they have to hate the movie are out there, but I am a phan of the movie. It was how I was introduced to Phantom and I really liked it. Though I prefer some of the costumes and such from the musical (*coughdonjuancough*)

And of course Leroux's Erik. I went strictly off the book and went with his full faced black mask and tuft of hair. And of course the violin bow and his punjab lasso. I love the book, I bought it actually, and I am a loyal phan to the orginal creator of Phantom.

On the bottom there is my own version of Erik, from my Graphic novel 'To Haunt a Phantom' with his oddly shaped mask, pony tail, and necklace he carries around. And like Lerik, he has the glowing eyes.

Here you go, lots of Erik's! Any phan-girl's dream. I refuse to draw the 1989 movie Erik. I simply refused to. At that point it isn't even Phantom anymore. It's awful. Don't watch it. Save youself the brain cells!!

It's alright! As I tell all my friends who enjoy ranting, "Ranting is good for the soul!"

Ahhhh, yes, thank you!
Sometimes I just need a good rant, lol.
Though I can imagine it being a little tiresome for people, especially in real life. On the internet you can always just ignore it, while in RL you have this constant chatter stream going on... which annoys quite some people, lol.

OMFG! Damn you coincidence. When I read *coughdonjuancough* "the point of no return" popped up on my iPod (wait, let me listen... wait... okay, movie version.), and I have quite a lot of music on it...

I agree though, the Don Juan costume was a lot better in the musical, since in the film she hasn't even discovered that it's "him", or at least that's very unclear, when he begins his little love serenade (before demasking), while in the musical she first pulls off his hood, then love serenade and then a (much better) demasking scene.
Also I think the Red Death was SO MUCH BETTER on stage! I mean, there he had a fully articulated skull mask, speaking of AWESOME!
But some other things were actually better in the movie I think. In the musical it wasn't entirely clear when I saw it first that Erik is no ghost, while it is in the movie. (in the musical he shoots fireballs at the cemetery, while in the movie they just fence, also in the musical the piano starts playing without any clear reason or explanation when they practice DJT (Don Juan Triumphant. Wait, what's the use of aberrations if you write it fully anyway...?), and he sits on a fricking floating ANGEL (which is awesome, but adds to the 'ghost' idea. Also in the end of the movie Erik smashes a mirror and 'disappears' while in the musical they used a nice magic trick to make him vanish, which really got the idea of 'ethereal/magical' being trough to me!) In the movie you can actually see him sneaking trough the Opera, see him eavesdropping, etc. and the Joseph Buquet murder was so much clearer to me too. In the musical it seemed kinda... random!
But other things were better in the stage version, but anyway, I'm starting to rant/compare/digress, anyway... I can have a long conversation about it, lol. I don't hate the movie either though, but I liked the musical better. But I think it was a nice movie still! And that Gerry did a much better job on singing Erik than I expected. For someone with no musical training, bravo!

I read about the 1989 movie... it just sounded SO stupid, so I decided to never watch it.

I got all of them! Except Susan Kay's... I think of her Erik and Leroux's Erik as the same guy and didn't even think about it. xD You're Erik should have a cat too because of the infuriating ball of fur waltzing all over To Haunt a Phantom which you will tell me nothing about so I decided it was Aysha.
Anyways... xD I haven't seen the 1989 version yet, but the 1998 version is terrible too. Never watch it. Ever. Erik isn't deformed. He was apparently raised by telepathic rats. I'm almost positive he raped Christine. He hacked someone into tiny pieces instead of Punjabing him like a good Phantom should. And then there's this whole scene where I think Raoul is in a bath house or something that I don't even want to mention. It's bad. I still don't know how I made myself watch the whole thing.

COOOOOOOL.....whats the 1989 version? But anyway I like your Charles Dance and Gerik phantom....I love those, why didn't you do the AWL musical? Anyway I agree with you on the Gerik, read my Journal on the 2004 movie rant

Well there is no ALW musical Erik because I ran out of room on the paper, which is why my Erik is sitting there on the bottom XD and Gerik kinda makes up for it since he is an ALW Erik. And the 1989 movie is just awful, Erik doesn't even wear a mask and sews skin to his face and hires prostitutes and calls them Christine *shivers* it's bad. Plus Chrisine's last name is Day and Raoul is replaced by Richard 0.o it is really a bad POTO movie...

Thanks for the comment

Oh the one with the guy that plays Freddy? Its not THAT bad, I mean at least the Erik is scary and deformed, there is one that is so awful, the Erik has no deformity, has sax with rats and is just wierd, the Dario Argento version
