Personality
[Charismatic] [Meticulous] [Guarded] [Flamboyant] [Fake] [Anxious]
Kayden has always been charismatic, growing up in a household of seven children, he learned early and learned well how to talk to others and how to make others like him. With it came bargaining from an early age, learning how to get what an older sibling had that he wanted, and this naturally led to him following in his mother’s hoofsteps to become a merchant, making his living off of trading and bartering. He is focused and meticulous in everything he puts his mind to, often getting lost in the tiny details, and forgetting to take care of himself; but no one can say that he ever does a job poorly, and it made falling into the job of taking stock of Flight supplies and dealing out rations all the easier and more natural.
Outwardly he is a flamboyant individual, talkative and friendly; almost boisterous. This, however, is somewhat of a mask. It is true, that he is friendly and enjoys the company of others, but at his core he is deeply guarded and anxious worried constantly of what the people around him think of him and is hyper aware of himself and his own actions. He feels fake, almost as though he doesn’t belong in his own skin at times, and that he is lying to others by being so outwardly confident. Not that he will actually tell anyone of this feeling anyway, he is content behind his shield, at least that is what he tells himself.

HistoryWarning for: Typical Talorian transphobia//trans man acting as a woman to be accepted
Kayden was born into your average Talorian household. Being a pegasus, of course, caused its own issues growing up, but none out of what was to be expected. He never felt close to his parents, perhaps due to his status as a middle child of seven, but he still did his best to be a good child. This, of course, included being an obedient and poised filly. Growing up, Kayden hadn't really questioned his gender. In fact, he'd never really thought about it at all, but in the instances he was reminded that he was a 'filly' he had felt very strange. He had just assumed, though, that everyone felt like that. That every filly found it pleasing to be mistaken for a colt from time to time.
In his teens, through experimenting, and branching out in meeting others, Kayden came to realize what he felt wasn't the norm. That what he felt meant he was a colt, at his core. He knew his herd would not accept that, especially from a breed already considered lowly. So he kept it hushed, told only his few close friends; the best of which was a hippocampus named Aiden. As more years passed, Kayden and Aiden grew ever closer, and Kayden's parents were thrilled when the young stallion asked permission to marry their 'daughter'.
It was a perfect plan, for Aiden preferred stallions and Kayden didn't mind pretending to be a mare in the public eye. They would be able to love each other safely, and the herd would be none the wiser. After the wedding, and the customary three months wait, Kayden asked if they could try for children. He dearly missed his little siblings running underhoof, and wanted a little one to care for. Soon enough he was with child, and his beautiful twins were born; both pegasi.
Aiden seemed disappointed in their children not bearing fins, but Kayden ignored the spark of worry at that. Though, over time, it seemed the herd's influence was affecting Aiden more and more. Perhaps it was his fellow guardians filling his head with such words, but Kayden was never truly sure. He simply continued his own work as a merchant, selling goods from his village and smooth talking his way into trade deals for his friends and neighbors; trying to ignore the feeling of an impending breakdown. He was becoming somewhat well known around the nearby villages, a polite and clever 'woman' with a charming smile who was a lovely mother and wife. Some of course found his silver tongue to be distasteful for a female, but most were simply delighted when he passed through town to make deals and offer some sweets or hoofmade toys for the children.
But time had changed Kayden as well, now with winged children of his own, each sacrifice felt like a blow to the heart. What if someone he knew were chosen? What if one of his siblings, his children were chosen? What if he were chosen and has to be taken from the colt and filly who needed him?
In desperation, Kayden begged Aiden to leave with him. There was a group of pegasus sympathizers out in the wilds he had heard rumors of, led by that stallion who had leapt with his wings still in tact during the sacrifice those years ago. Aiden became furious, and violent, causing Kayden to flee the house with the kids. When he attempted to return late that night there were several other guardians on watch around the village; no doubt waiting to catch him.
With nowhere else to turn, Kayden ushered his children off to the outskirts of the mainland, asking any passing pegasi if they knew anything of the Flight. Eventually he found a recruiter and with their help got himself and his foals to safety. There in the barrier mountains he began to make a new name for himself: quite literally in fact.
Outside of the Talori he could be a stallion without threat of legal action. He still faced prejudice, but no one could imprison or brand him for being himself. He saw how little the Flight had, and his training as a merchant kicked in as he took stocks and made rations. He worked tirelessly in the background, letting others do the fighting for the most part. He wasn't a warrior by any means, but he was good with numbers and good with morale, and so he would help in that way.
During the occupation of Inaria he was often flying between the mountains and Inaria to deliver messages and supplies, but he hardly saw battle, and managed to avoid the bloody end of the occupation altogether. Distraught by the death and imprisonment of many of his friends, Kayden rallied behind Antiope, finding hope in the decision to become more political rather than flinging themselves to their deaths in battle.
He stood behind her decision to form an alliance with the Rogues, helping smooth talk any doubts from both sides wherever he could.
When Pel came into command, Kayden too supported the change, growing more and more confident and comfortable in his place now that politics and trading were the name of the game. This is what he'd trained to do, and had been doing, practically his whole life. Now with the alliances blooming with the Rogues, Breim, Sorora, and Aodh Kayden itched to do more for the people who have given him this chance at life.
Most recently he has offered himself to be a Galewind to Aodh, citing his charisma, and his knowledge of bartering and material goods. After all it is well known that Aodhians are a material people, and he hoped his reputation among the flight and his seniority among the ranks would help compel Pel to agree. He has been in the background now for ten years, and finally he feels he has his chance to have a prominent place among his people, even if it takes him halfway across the continent. He’d do anything to give himself, his friends, his family, a chance to stake a claim of this world at last.
