Welcome to D&D then. Paranoia is fun, but it doesn't have as much as you'd need for a standard RPG. I've always preferred the older editions of D&D (2nd and 3.5 are particular favorites), although I'd rather play CWOD (Classing World of Darkness) and the Storyteller system. The map looks pretty good I might add. Good luck with the campaign.

thank you! it was the first time we played something about fantasy, we almost started a 3.5 campaign, but the books where so big and scary for the most of us so we decided to go simple and pick 4.0.
it's everyone first time in D&D, even the DM, but he used to play rulemaster so we think he knows what he is doing

I hear that Rulemaster is very similar to older versions of D&D (like 2nd and earlier), so you guys are probably safe there. If you guys ever want to explore some other systems I have a few that are fun to play. I keep a lot of PDFs for All the earlier editions of D&D (Even before 1st edition, but not 4th), World of Darkness (Vampires, Werewolves, Fae, Mages, etc in the modern landscape), and other systems (Even Paranoia). 3.5 isn't as massive as it seems, it's just that there was a lot of third party people involved and it gets hard to discern between WotC's stuff and everyone else's. If you stick with the core 3 (PHB-Player's Hand Book, MM - Monster Manual (1), and the DMG - Dungeon Master's Guide) you can get the core concepts in no time. By now I'm mostly an RPG veteran and an old fogey compared to who all's playing these days, so I get to enjoy my sagehood. Keep in touch and let me know if you guys hit any snags.
