Well, you said that the translation was incorrect, are you now admitting that it is indeed one of its correct meanings?
You are also saying that as a name it is always Angel but, for example, the Touhou's Tenshi is written with the kanji of emperor. 天子 What about it?
You are probably saying that in real life Japan, Tenshi, as a person name is always written with the kanji of angel, but this is a completely different matter from your first observation and beside that, since everything takes place in a wolrd that it is not ours, I think that it's not a big deal to use the prefered meaning as long as it is correct.
