Awesome... this is a great ad for Terragen. Apart from the triangular rock outcrop on the left you could pass this off as a photo. How long does it take to get as good as this in Terragen?

Thank you!
Surprisingly not to much if you are a beginner.
Then as much as your experience increase, everything changes from exciting to torture, because you want to tweak everything, even you don't have to or don't have what to tweak.
And this phase is critical...this sounds for me only
-----------------------------------------------------------
It depends of how powerful is your PC, CPU+DDR++++...
Learning it - Terragne v09 - it takes you something between 1 and 3 weeks.
The whole time for this pic was as follows: rendering it took about 15 min, max 1 hour for terrain, texture and sky.
Writing notes at every modification and reading tutorials is important. I suppose you all ready know that..(I say it for myself..)

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer! I've always been tempted by terragen, though bryce and vue seem to offer more stuff than just landscapes so I've been more inclined to try them out. But I have limited free time, so ease of use is important to me...

You're welcome!!! There is TERRAGEN 2, much better than v09, and it has a lot of plugins with vegetation, water and so on. You have to surf the Internet for viewing some TERRAGEN 2 gallery, you'll be amazed...

Oh yes, last year I think...I checked on the Internet for some plants plugins for TERRAGEN. There is a lot of stuff (awesome plants, clouds, textures, etc.) for TERRAGEN 2. Try this [link] for clouds, and then visit the author's gallery...

Ah yes... beautiful pictures!! Hmmm.... must be fun to play at being The Creator... shame you can't get animated (or even static) living things to populate the grand landscapes... or can you import obj files?

To be honest...I'm still learning to use Terragen and World Machine. Importing some stuff can be made - texture, different typ of images and so on...Animation consisting in flying over, can be made, even with a sound track. You can see many of this kind on YouTube...

I just viewed all of your Terragen work and you are really good with that program. They look like photos and are so real looking. Beautiful work.
