Description
Most commonly manifests as auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking, and it is accompanied by significant social or occupational dysfunction. Onset of symptoms typically occurs in young adulthood, with a global lifetime prevalence of around 1.5%. Diagnosis is based on the patient's self-reported experiences and observed behavior. No laboratory test for schizophrenia exists. Some recreational and prescription drugs appear to cause or worsen symptoms.Related content

I really like this. Just in case you were wondering though (I follow the news on this disorder intensely), they are currently creating laboratory tests that are about as efficient at diagnosing schizophrenia as psychiatric interviews. The hope is that if there's a "schizophrenia test", the stigma surrounding the illness will lessen and people will try to understand what we really go through, and what we're really like.
