It was more than a surprise to turn around and set her stormy eyes on Seiger. Fully expecting Zachariah to hand her Zaun’s reins as she finished dressing for the dressage class. So needless to say that Alexa’s jaw dropped, realizing that their usual banter had led to Seiger flying once again to Australia, just to be her groom for one day. ONE day. Talk about commitment for the cause. Even Zaun seemed pleased to see the man again, taking a playful nip of his military uniform at the first chance he got. Either way, turns out Alexa won a new groom (and lover), Seiger a new job (or a few) and Zach a day off. Everyone could go on with their day with a winning scenario.
But to be fair, it almost felt painful to Al to leave Seiger behind as she ventured into the warmup, her focus heavily shook from the turn of the morning. All of it still at the same time spurred this Italian to do her best, show her best profile, maybe get her chest out a little more… ok maybe not that last part, but she truly hoped to ride an excellent test, no shenanigans allowed. Not today. At least by now the weather seemed to improve, slowly, but still, quite the amelioration since the first day.
Anyway, the warmup turned quite uneventful, Zaun was slowly gaining more and more assurances in those, simply focusing on his rider and the tasks, or if anything, as long as Alexa kept his silly little mind occupied. Not time to get too many ideas or opinions that way.
But Overall, it did spark some pride in Al’s heart to see just how far she brought this young stallion. Having her even a bit soft for a second as she asked for a halt and granted Zaun some good scratches, leaving him licking and chewing in a pleased manner. They were doing good.
Hopefully they would cross into the show arena with confidence and grace, ready to show them all what kind of fiery team they are steadily building.
