Clyde was in a jolly mood.
He had been vastly enjoying the show environment, and had sparked right up after saying hello to his daughter. Their meeting had been an unexpected bonus of the event, he was still dancing around and calling out to everyone through the warmup. But at least he was also listening and enjoying the work. His training had been a little all over the place, and he could get overwhelmed or unfocused in busy environments, so brains under pressure was never something Alex was certain of. But he was on the good side of excited today which boded well for their ride.
They were only doing a small jumping round, suited to his experience and age, so its not like there would be anything too technical or tasking. The main challenge at this point was keeping him focused and rideable so that they could cut down the chance of a mistake. But even then, a pole or two wasn't the end of the world. They weren't here to win, too many amazing people and horses were entered and given her amateur career and Clyde's age, well... a clear round was the goal.
They had plenty of time in the future to aim for more, and every solid round would build on the next. So with that in mind and a few deep calming breaths Alex focused on riding her best and nudged the bay into the arena as the gate swung open.
