Yeah I pretty much agree the only comic book films I like that copy the comics are Kick Ass and 300 but they worked because their comics where popular but amongst die hard comic fans and not the general public. So the fans wanted to see it as a live action film (although most only want to bitch about how its not as good as the comics) and the general public didn't feel cheated because they had a new story that if they wanted more of they could buy a comic that was pretty much the same. Whereas I think DC and in particular anything batman related is followed by everyone. Not everyone buys the comics granted but everyone watches vids about the characters on youtube or reads articles about the comics or whatever. So most people kinda know the story without ever picking up a comic. So I feel they kinda 'have' to do something a bit different and I'm glad they have. I really like Margot's Harley I used to watch My Name Is Earl and I loved her in that. Because I'd seen that when she was announced I could instantly see her as Harley. Deadshot I new could have gone horribly wrong by making him too macho and faceless and honestly I'd have never put Will Smith down as a good Deadshot but I actually think he'll do a brilliant job. Like you said Leto is the darkhorse because whilst I like him as a person I dont really know him as an actor and the trailer didnt give you much to go off. So I guess we'll wait and see with him.

Yeah I think you're right, those movies found quite a large audience both with non-readers and readers alike, and they put them together very sensibly. Neither of them are really my kind of thing but they were really well done and very well marketed without being shoved in people's faces too.
Yeah given DC's stalwarts have been in action since the middle of last century, I can understand all the re-imaginings. And I think in the most part certainly with their movies and TV spin-offs they've been pretty smart.
Yeah I think they will both be pretty good. Margot Robbie's done a lot of similar characters like you say, and Will Smith is good at being badass but sensitive/flawed at the same time, which should suit Deadshot. I hope they'll avoid the 'stereotypical dickhead mercenary' stuff they did with him in the Arkham games and I think Will Smith being cast as him is a good sign they will. Leto I like a lot as an actor, but he's quite understated and straightforward in most of the roles that come to mind. I've never seen him in a role flying off the handle so yeah, unknown quantity for certain. Also I liked him a lot as an actor when I was in my late-teens but he's been in barely anything I can think of since then off the top of my head and I've largely been aware of him via 30 Seconds to Mars, who aren't my bag so I don't really follow them.
