Description
This is a self-portrait. I used this pose to make myself look tired and defeated. And I used the pencil and sketchbook to associate the idea of being tired and defeated with art. The idea was to express that I am someone who struggles because of art. I love art, but it and the CFPA program have become the bane of my high school experience. I don't feel happy when I create art anymore. I drew myself with this particularly blank facial expression to show you that my feelings towards art are currently unknown or absent, in other words empty.Btw this won the Student Art Collection Award (2018) at my county's Arts Festival.

Great job! It's hard to get the anatomical proportions right with a pose and perspective like this, but you nailed it! Congrats on your win at the Art's Festival!
On another note; I empathize with the mood of this portrait. I joined the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and from that point, I didn't draw a single thing for the next 14 years. I don't know why, but being in the military made me completely unmotivated to think creatively. I'm only recently started to get back into it and I regret the last decade and a half or so because there was a time when I made art for fun! now, I have to kick myself in the butt to sketch something.
