Description "Adrift at sea...
Endless Apathy
Pray the currents
Pull me toward Purpose
Pull me away
From me.

Submerge Myself
In the cool Uncertain
Sea of Indecision
Give me Reason
To Breathe."

Thank you! I can't fully take credit for the water effect, though. The model was already submerged in the original stock image.

Outstandingly gorgeous creation. I love the skin and the water effect. Did you create the water effect too?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EmilyHeatherly In reply to SilEnigmaArts [2008-06-29 17:16:27 +0000 UTC]

Nope, the model was already submerged in water in the original stock photo. If she hadn't been, I wouldn't have used it b/c I pretty much suck at water effects!

I use Adobe Photoshop Cs2.
Here's how I do the skin: First adjust the levels, curves and saturation of the model as you desire. Be sure not to over-saturate the model's skin, or it will look funny. Use the paint tool in photoshop, set to airbrush, to paint a large dot of equivalent color on a new layer above the model. Use smudge tool to smear it over skin's surface. Don't worry about staying in the lines, just erase where you mess up. Next, create new layer and repeat the process using the same technique... for example, use a lighter shade of the same color used as above for areas which shall be highlighted. Keep repeating this process until you've got all of the skin painted (i just use blur tool on hands because it's too easy for me to ruin them with painting). Eventually merge all layers. Use dodge and burn tools to accentuate highlights and shadows.
Just practice often and it will become easy

CSnyder is completely right: it looks really good. Nobody would have noticed that you took a different head for the model if you wouldn't have said it. You may be new to the painting thing, but you're already great.

seamless blends on the face and body, it looks like you might have done some painting too, which is hard to tell...always good

Oh wow! Thanks! I'm pretty new to the painting thing. Usually I use gaussian blur for the skin, but I wanted to try this out. I'm glad you think it looks good
