One of our joys when in England is to visit churches and cathedrals, and seeing the stained glass windows. Especially some of the out of the way places where the windows are originals, although the post-war ones do take some beating.
Beautiful shot, Emma.Β

Wonderful shot of the stained glass window Emma!Β

There's something about stained glass that lifts the spirit. I noticed that about a lot of the churches and cathedrals in England. I often went in and stopped for a while and contemplated things while I admired their beauty. I remember one day I was driving around, it was quite miserable with a misty rain falling. To have a break from driving, I entered by a side door to what turned out to be Durham Cathedral. (I didn't know that at the time) I pushed open the door and I heard the angels singing. (It was choir practice)Β I sat down and listened and looked at the large rose window. Truely a unique experience and a feast for my senses that I will not forget for a long time.Β

I love stained glass windows, especially when they're lit up and the light is shining into the church... That sounds very peaceful! You didn't interrupt the choir practice by accident, did you? I don't think I've ever been to Durham Cathedral, although I would like to visit sometime

I love stained glass windows too. There's something about the way the light shines through them can be quite mesmerising.Β

When I entered Durham Cathedral, it was through a little side door. When I heard the choir singing I had to sit down and listen. It was very beautiful. It was so peaceful and I was the only person to experience it! The emptiness of the church was quite amazing.Β
