I would love to get a pitty (as I call them xD) But they are unpredictable now because of all the dog fight breeding so I understand why my mom won't let me get one, the risk of it being stolen is pretty high, as well as it accidently hurting someone with of their strength (friend has one that was part shar pei and it bit one of siblings because it was being playful, had to get rid of it). Hopefully though, dog fights will be put to a stop and the stereotypes of pit bulls will be stopped.

This is a large reason I can't bring myself to go to the shelter. :[ It makes me so sad to see all those pitties behind bars where they will likely die. I wish I had enough room to take them all home where they could be loved forever.

they are expencive since they almost got exctinct - I think. All I know is that they got really rare after the 2nd war and it's starting only now to get to a healthy level. We payed around $1650 for my pup, and that was a breeder that barely took over what it costed them to raise the puppies with health checks, good food and the attension they needed until they where 8weeks old. (epic breeder, they had a own puppy room with a heat lamp and a live camera to always keep an eye on them. + the buyers had to visit them when they where 5-6 weeks to be allowed to buy one) there where some buyers from the US, they also had to visit lol, but they didn't have to come and get it, the breeder delivered it.

doesn't sound good indeed... leons need space to run, even if they are lazy.
And unfortunately there is alot of bad breeders, or just plain irresponsible ones.

if we in Finland had shelters, i would more than happily take a dog from there.
if i lived in country where are those shelters, i would take a dog from there. not from breeder. just because dogs from breeders probably will find a home. shelter dogs don't.
i don't know if it's possible to take a dog from another country's shelter. at least a few finnish people work in Spanish shelter and it's possible to take a dog from there, but it's expensive.

it sounds odd that there aren't any? I mean there is no where I live either, but there is alot of volounteer 'shelters' that rehab and rehome unwanted dogs, mostly grown

well we have shelters, but there are very rarely any dogs. they only take dogs which are running free for some reason, and usually their owners go to get them back. which is a good thing. we don't have much stray dogs.

I am the owner of pit-pup-pack & a regular @ the humane soceity. I have been visiting there for over 2yrs & see very few pits who aren't just love starved & happy some are scared & a bit growly but after a sniff & a snack they are fine the ONLY one who ever gave me trouble when walked was a female puppy who kept jumping & biting the leash the others @ worst would do some dragging on the walks the males tend to get transfered to the pound & put down cause the pound won't hold pits but the girls at the humane soceity are usually there for MONTHS they are just so happy to be tossed a treat or go on a 10minute walk

This truly is sad and very moving. My sister had lost her puppy she had only had for three days to a pack of trained fighting dogs. i felt horrible thinking of what would happen to them once the animal control caught them...I'm hoping soon i can rescue a pit as well

I'm glad you were able to rescue her before something worse happened to her...it's hard for pits to find good homes even the ones that weren't even trained to fight

my dog's a rescue 2. but hes not a pitbull. he's an overgrown beagle/something else. but he looks like a beagle and acts like one......but anyway...hes a rescue because when he was little, he got hit by a car and hurt his leg. even nowadays, sometimes when he gets up he limps for a little bit and then puts the leg down.
yeah random dog story XD
